The 2019 C-USA Baseball Championship will be held at MGM Park in Biloxi, MS May 22nd-26th and will feature the top eight teams in regular-season league play. The format consists of two double-elimination brackets with four teams each, and the winners of each bracket will meet in a single-elimination championship game.
After earning their second regular season Conference USA title in the past four years, and winning 8-of-10 conference series’ in 2019, Florida Atlantic will be the No. 1 seed in this year's tournament. The Owls closed out the regular season with a sweep of MTSU (5-4, 8-7, 8-7) for the final weekend of play and currently have a RPI of 38.
Since joining C-USA in 2014, FAU is 9-8 in league tournament play. They failed to qualify in 2014, but will have been the number one seed twice including this season, while also taking the lead spot in 2016. In the other years, Florida Atlantic landed the 2-seed (2015), and 3-seed (2017 and 2018).
As a 1-seed FAU is 1-2 overall. They have been bounced by a 5-seed once, and a 6-seed twice. In 2018 they lost to eventual winner tournament Champion USM (1-seed) after enduring their longest stay of six contests.
The Owls took 2-of-3 against against 2019 first round opponent and 8-seed UTSA (8-5, 1-4, 6-2) earlier in the season.
They enter tournament week with the best team batting average (.298) and slugging mark (.443). They also enjoy the most RBI (364), runs scored (391), hits (588), home runs (56), and total bases (876).
Conversely, they place 7th in total team ERA (.489), and 10th in opposing team batting average (.289), and it would appear that success on the mound will be a key and deciding factor towards claiming the Championship.
Coach McCormack will employ the same line-up used last week on the mound with Blake Sanderson (7-2, 3.68 ERA) taking on UTSA, Mike Ruff (5-4, 5.92 ERA) getting the nod for game two, and to be announced thereafter.

And so the baseball tournamen starts. The ten o'clock game just finished after 12 innings. Multiple pitches. Ran late. Fau's five o'clock game will be more like ejght. These tornaments are mentally and physically a drain . Staying in the win column is key. Fingers crossed.Posted On: May 22nd 2019, 3:22 PM #386443

They try to CRAM TOO MUCH into one day…it's ridiculous…split the fields…play two games at once…problem solved.
