  • OC Charlie Weis Jr Speaks With the Media  For the first time since fall camp opened the second year offensive coordinator was available for questions. Weis Jr. emphasized how the veteran tight ends are a good safety net for the quarterbacks. “I think that’s where they (quarterbacks) are at their best, throwing to those two tight ends”. Referring to seniors John Raine and Harrison Bryant. Bryant was named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey award, given to the nation’s top tight end. When asked about the difference between this year’s quarterback battle compared to last year’s Weis Jr. said, “The demand I`m asking of these guys is a lot higher this year, the quarterbacks have a lot more on their shoulders.” His full session can be found here: 2019 FALL CAMP: Presser - Charlie Weis, Jr. - FAU Owl's Nest

  • True Freshmen Standing Out It is easy to see why FAU had the number one rated recruiting class in CUSA according to 247 Sports.  Several of the newcomers stood out today. At Linebacker, true freshmen Antarrius Moultrie (photo above) had a phenomenal day. He had two tackles in the backfield and has been one of the Owls biggest hitters in camp. The Pensacola native was spotted taking reps with the first and second team today in certain packages. Former Pahokee High School Standout Deante Nelson scored a touchdown on an interception return and has settled in well as a cornerback.

  • DC Glenn Spencer`s State of the Defense Entering his first season in Boca Raton, the former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator has been given the task of fixing FAU`s 81st ranked defense in yards per game from last season. DC Glenn Spencer praised several members of the secondary in a post practice press conference.. First being S DaVon Brown, who is having a strong camp.  “He is the guy that`s pushing them, he`s the vocal leader in defense for sure.” The Royal Palm Beach High School alum had an interception in the spring game on Saturday. DB Teja Young has been taking reps all over the secondary during camp, his versatility and growth have not gone unnoticed. “He`s come a long way since the spring.” Said Spencer. His entire session can be seen below.

  • Security at MLB Owls fans should feel very confident in their quarterback of the defense, junior Akelus Lerory. The junior will be taking over at mike linebacker for FAU`s all-time leading tackler, and current San Francisco 49ers linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. LeRoy was named Co-MVP of the Spring Game along with redshirt freshmen S Armani Adams and is seen as one of the leaders on defense. “He`s had a good camp”, DC Glenn Spencer said after practice.

  • Play Of The Day True freshmen RB Glover Cook scored on a 25 yard touchdown run in 11 on 11. Offensive Linemen Adarius Tollivr, DeShawn Richardson and Kent Jasmin among those who helped pave the way for the score.  Cook was a huge target of the coaching staff this past recruiting cycle.  The Ocala native averaged over 7 yards per carry his senior season at Vanguard High School.
