Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris will receive a hefty pay raise this season, based on playing time in his first three years.

Morris
Morris will make $1.574 million this season, according to NFLPA records (though the amount could change), thanks to a Proven Performance Escalator clause that was part of the 2011 collective bargaining agreement. If a player is drafted in rounds 3-7, they will receive a raise of approximately $1 million if they played at least 35 percent of the offensive or defensive snaps in two of their first three seasons.

Obviously Morris easily hit that figure while serving as the Redskins’ primary back in each of his first three years. Had the escalator not kicked in, Morris would have made $660,000 this season. He made $570,000 in base salary this past season.

Nobody else from the 2012 class will get a similar raise.

Morris, a sixth-round pick in 2012, has started every game in his first three seasons, rushing for a total of 3,962 yards and 28 touchdowns.

This past season, Morris managed only 1,074 yards and 4.02 yards per carry as the run game struggled for a variety of reasons. In his first two season, Morris rushed for a combined 2,888 yards and averaged 4.73 yards per carry.

He will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

if the Redskins didnt rely on the pass game so much in the 4th quarter, Alfred could've easily been in the top 5 rushers again. I hope he stays healthy, goes for another 1000 plus yards, and becomes one of the highest paids RBs in the league… well deserved.
Go Alfred, and keep throwing those Owl fingers up!!!!
