The Florida Atlantic University National Alumni Association (FAUNAA) recently hosted its 10th annual Sweethearts Dinner, bringing together FAU alumni and their significant others in celebration of Valentine’s Day. More than 40 couples attended the event at the Marleen & Harold Forkas Alumni Center at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.

Brad Crews, assistant vice president of alumni relations, welcomed all the “sweethearts” on behalf of the Association. FAU alumna and 50th anniversary gala featured performer, Chloe Dolandis ’07, provided live entertainment while guests danced under the stars.

Jennifer Brownell ’03, ’04 and Cooper Brownell ’03, ’04 have attended the Sweethearts Dinner for the past three years. The couple met in their “Interpretation of Fiction” class at FAU in 2001 and got married in 2009.

“We’ve attended this event every year since we’ve been married and it keeps getting better,” said Cooper Brownell. “FAUNAA events like the Sweethearts Dinner provide great opportunities to meet other alumni who graduated anywhere from one to almost 50 years ago. Plus, you know you have at least one thing in common with everyone there … we are all Owls!”

Established in 1968, the Florida Atlantic University National Alumni Association represents FAU’s ever-growing alumni community.
