Re: FAUNAA Football Game Watch Parties

Smitty,
any chance we can change it from NYC to Long Island? I knew we have a few FAU fans in Long Island. My family still lives up there and it would be great if I could go to a watch party on the Island while I was there instead of traveling to NYC which is a hassle

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Jab,

Smitty asked me to help with the NYC one. I don't really care where it is, the only reason whu I assume the city would be better is people from Jersey, Westchester, Conn, etc… If there's a commitment of people to come from all over it would work better, but if its only Long Island people, then I would have no problem with that.

Jab,
As Exit said, NYC seems to be a central location for those coming from Connecticut, Jersey, NY and maybe even Philly.

How long of a travel is it from Long Island to watch the game at an NYC location?

From where my family lives about a 40 minute train ride to Penn Station then either a subway or cab ride to wherever the location would be

OK thanks!

Do you know of any FAU Alumni in the area that would want to attend the event?

I don't know of any alums per say but whenever I'm up there I see people in FAU stuff and Florida Atlantic University stickers on the backs of cars, even a few sweatshirts. So there are definitely a decent amount of FAU people in Long Island

Re: FAUNAA Football Game Watch Parties

outside of Florida I would bet that the tristate area has more alumni then anywhere else in the country. My personal opinion is the school should market itself more up here and the alumni association should do a mailer and have one bar in NYC that would be meeting for games. Regardless if its sponsored. Every major college has alumni bars for football and basketball games in NYC, UF, Texas, Tennessee, FSU, Penn State, Duke, even South Florida. I know a couple of places that would hang a banner up permanently if we could get people there for most games. More importantly about thirty people for the South Carolina game. Nobody is going to be around for the Nebraska game since its Labor Day weekend.

I agree Exit. Maybe that's something you can talk to Smitty about. I'm on Long Island about 12-14x a year and unfortunately some of those times are during football season. I'd love to be able to be able to meet up with a bunch of Owls Fans in NY to watch a game if I happen to be up there. Not even just for football.

This past year we had a game on ESPN vs. Arizona when something like that happens it would be cool to get watch parties going for that too. Although I understand football is much more popular
