Temple with the 7-0 lead late in the first half. Apparently McGough got hurt and may be out for the game. That could be backbreaking for FIU. Not good.Posted On: Dec 21st 2017, 9:22 PM #375815
Sucks to lose your two best offensive players, it'd be like us losing Singletary and Driskill. I do pull for all C-USA teams in bowl games (yes, even MTSU and FIU), better luck next year to the Magic City Kitties……

FINAL:
Temple 28 FIU 3
Temple had three rushing touchdowns and one passing score to get past FIU, 28-3, in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl on Thursday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The Panthers' (8-5) fortunes took a turn for the worse on their third offensive play of the game.
Quarterback Alex McGough ran through the Owls defense for a 17-yard pick up but sustained an injury to his left shoulder when he landed on the turf. McGough did not return and watched the remainder of the game on the sideline with a sling on his left shoulder.

The fans point to the loss of senior QB Alex McGough very early in the game and the subsequent failure of his backup, 2-star QB Maurice Alexander, who they believe is too short and not talented enough to be a true starter for them. We'll see what that means for them next year. They have a 2-star and 3-star QB on roster and just added another 2-star to compete with Alexander. Not sure why so many 2-star QBs? That's way too important of a position.
But it's also not great for the conference to have them lose, and lose in that fashion, to Temple. Adding insult to injury, attendance wasn't too hot either:
Steve Kyler on Twitter: "This is why there are too many college bowl games. https://t.co/qD4FghgRGa"
Not sure how we would have fared over there. Would not have wanted a showing like that for Kiffin.
I would say their loss yesterday might give us a slight edge in recruiting if we're even going after the same people but they already signed 21 recruits including a pair of 4-star JUCO DTs on 12/20. So they may not lose too much ground with this misstep after all if they can figure out their QB situation.

Gonna take some 20-25 ranked teams losing to get us ranked!
No. 25 Boise already won, so we have;
No. 24 USF playing Texas Tech (two good O's and zero D"s).
No. 23 Miss. St. playing Louisville (and Mr. Jackson).
No. 22 Virginia Tech playing Oklahoma St.!
No. 21 Washington St. playing Michigan St. (interesting match-up).
and last No. 20 Northwestern playing Kentucky (ugh! ).
Any of No. 21-24 COULD lose their games, let's hope several do at minimum!!!!
