FINAL:

Middle Tennessee 17  Memphis 36

The Blue Raiders (2-2) could not get their ground game going and battled poor starting field position most of the game.

When they did move the ball inside Tiger territory, twice they turned it over to thwart scoring opportunities.

That's what I'm saying Beer. We have a good shot in every game from here on out aside from the game at Marshall. If Partridge gets them rolling into the bye week we can still go 8-4, 7-5. This team has the talent and players to do it but mistakes like yesterday just can't happen anymore. I believe they won't.

After throwing five touchdowns and running for another in leading Old Dominion to a 45-42 road victory over defending Conference USA champion Rice in the Monarchs first league game, senior QB Taylor Heinicke has been named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week.

The Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Southern Miss senior DL Dasman McCullum, who had 10 tackles, played a role in two turnovers and blocked a potential game-tying extra-point in the final seconds of the Golden Eagles 21-20 win over Appalachian State.

The Special Teams Player of the Week award was given to North Texas sophomore PR Darvin Kidsy, who had a highlight reel 75-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Mean Green's decisive 77-3 win over Nicholls State. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.

Well this weekend didn't go as planned.

Louisiana Tech is a head-scratcher.
I had ODU losing in a close one, but if you watch the game you'd know that the game really wasn't that close; the Monarchs dominated.
Southern Miss blocked a PAT with seconds left to get the win against App St.
Marshall finally flexed their muscles.
FIU is playing better than expected.
Memphis is looking like the AAC's dark-horse right about now.
I'm staying as far as I can away from the North Texas bandwagon. A friendly reminder, Nicholls State lost to a D2 team. You know, like Lynn's division if they had a football team.
