After throwing five touchdowns and rushing for another score while improving his team to 5-0 in league play, Louisiana Tech senior QB Cody Sokol has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.

The Defensive Player of the Week award was given to Rice senior DE Zach Patt, who registered five sacks and three forced fumbles in the Owls fifth straight win.

The Special Teams Player of the Week honor went to UTEP junior KR Autrey Golden, who had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, his fifth career KO return for a score.

C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.

Rice senior defensive end Zach Patt has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games the weekend of Nov. 1.
 
Patt, a 6-2, 240-pound senior from Honey Grove, Texas, registered a school-record five sacks, forced three fumbles in leading Rice to a 31-17 victory over FIU.

Patt's sack, fumble and recovery at the FIU 19 on the third play of the game set up the Owls' first touchdown. He collected his four other sacks in the fourth quarter. Patt's five sacks are the second-highest total in a game in Conference USA history.
