C-USA Football: Games for Week of 9-2-17

Conference USA began its 22nd football season on Saturday when Rice played No. 14 Stanford in Sydney, Australia. The Owls became the first C-USA school to play a regular season game outside of the United States, losing to the Cardinal.

The other 13 schools will begin play this week, with FIU playing on Thursday, Aug. 31, Charlotte and Florida Atlantic opening on Friday, Sept. 1, and 10 other schools playing on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Saturday schedule features the return of UAB Football after a two-year absence, as the Blazers host Alabama A&M at historic Legion Field. A pair of C-USA teams will host SEC schools, as Southern Miss welcomes Kentucky and Middle Tennessee has Vanderbilt coming to Murfreesboro. Among the remaining games, UTEP visits No. 7 Oklahoma and UTSA plays host to Houston.

The league has three new head coaches for 2017. Former Miami, North Carolina and Cleveland Browns head coach Butch Davis returns to south Florida as head coach of FIU; Lane Kiffi n takes over at Florida Atlantic after most recently serving as Alabama Offensive Coordinator and prior to that being Head Coach at USC, Tennessee and the Oakland Raiders; and Mike Sanford, a former WKU assistant, returns as head coach, coming from Notre Dame, where he served as the Fighting Irish’s Offensive Coordinator.

Ten Conference USA teams will open the season at home, three on the road and one at a neutral site.

Looks like Butch has lost a step…did the old man know he had a game last night? Gonna be hard to recruit when kids have to wonder how long before he's put in an assisted living center!

You have to read the kitties game thread from the beginning to the dreadful end, hilarious.  I don't want to pile on since we haven't played yet but that was embarrassing.

GO OWLS!

I have been saying this for months I don't know how they hire a coach who hasn't coached in 8 years.
Brings in an avg C-USA class no transfers of JUCO's and expect to get better.
They hired and old Charlie Partridge.
