C-USA Football: Games for Week of 10-14-17

The 2017 season is already hitting the midpoint and 10 C-USA teams are at least halfway to bowl-eligibility. Saturday’s slate includes six conference matchups and one non-conference tilt.

Florida Atlantic will be off after a record setting night against Old Dominion last Saturday, and so will the Rice Owls.

The action begins with a pair of East Division matchups in the afternoon. Marshall, off to a 4-1 start after winning its conference opener last week, will host Old Dominion.

WKU will look for a second straight league win when it welcomes Charlotte to town.

The one cross-divsion matchup this week is the closest geographical one in C-USA. East Division member Middle Tennessee will make the 190 mile trip south to play at UAB, with both teams coming off division wins last Saturday.

A pair of West Division showdowns are on the Saturday night docket. UTSA will visit a North Texas team that is off to a 2-0 start in league play for the first time since 2004.

Mike Price and the UTEP Miners will visit a Southern Miss team that is coming off a big road win at UTSA.

One non-conference game is on the schedule, as former C-USA member Tulane makes the trip to Miami to face FIU.

I've been watching the first quarter of the UNT/ UTSA game. FAU had better bring the D next week because the Mean Green can move the ball. On the ground and in the air.

Still time left for Tulane to pull out a W there, technically… but yeah

+1

Tulane was +12.5 entering the contest with FIU given 13 total points of offense - which they have surpassed.

This is the time of the season everything begins to click though, and teams start to find a chemistry groove.

I would expect our win probabilities against WKU, Marshall, and FIU to shift south after today's contests while North Texas might go up.

Charlotte should stay the same.

I still like our chances by a lot against FIU. Wku will be tough on the road, and Marshall at home.

FINAL:

Tulane 10  FIU 23

Panther QB Alex McGough goes 17-31 for 220 YDS and a TD.

Pretty safe to say that when the Panthers come to Boca later this season on November 18th there will be more folks in attendance than they got tonight down there against Tulane…

Regardless, good win for them. Upset is always good.
