Friday night football features Conference USA with a pair of East Division showdowns scheduled.
WKU will visit Old Dominion in a matchup that has seen plenty of points scored in the first three meetings with combined totals of 83, 85 and 117 points in three Hilltopper wins.
Marshall travels to Middle Tennessee, where the previous two meetings in Murfreesboro were decided in overtime (2015) and with three seconds left (2013), both Blue Raiders wins.
Leading off Saturday’s action is a showdown between unbeaten division leaders when North Texas and Florida Atlantic meet in Boca Raton. It will also be a matchup between two of the nation’s most productive running backs in Mean Green senior Jeffery Wilson and FAU sophomore Devin “Motor” Singletary.
Both schools were founding members of Conference USA in 1995, but this will be the first time that UAB and Charlotte have played each other in football.
Longtime West Division rivals Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech square off in Ruston and Texas rivals Rice and UTSA will also meet.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20
WKU at Old Dominion (CBSSN) 6:00 pm
Marshall at Middle Tennessee (ESPN2) 7:00 pm
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21
North Texas at Florida Atlantic (ESPN3) 5:00 pm
UAB at Charlotte (beIN) 6:30 pm
Southern Miss at LA Tech (Stadium) 7:00 pm
Rice at UTSA (STAD FB/KMYS) 7:00 pm

Nice comeback by WKU but that TO bug hit ODU late giving the game away. And WKU rushing = 73 yards on 33 carries or 2.2 per rush - vs. ODU - OUCH!!!! They CANNOT run the ball this year so will be strength vs. strength! Winnable game guys, very Winnable!

MTSU gave the game away early 2nd qtr. by committing 2 TO's in a row resulting in a Marshall 14 point burst in less than 1:30. Marshall D is good but the O just so so. Only gained 360 yards Total O vs. MTSU D. Again, a very Winnable game!

SHOCKER.
But then again, bound to happen.
49ers have had a very rough go of it lately and deserve some form of redemption.

Rice 7 UTSA 14
As stated before, UTSA is overrated.
Sorry, just being honest.
Tonight was a prime example of why you don't play cupcake games and try to hang a hat on them.

The Defensive Player of the Week goes to UTSA senior DE Marcus Davenport, who had 11 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and a fumble return for a touchdown in the Roadrunners’ win over Rice.
Special Teams honors were given to Southern Miss junior K Parker Shaunfield, who had four field goals, including a career-long-tying 49-yarder in a double-overtime victory at Louisiana Tech. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.
