Jacksonville State is a great FCS program, and has been for some time. It is also where Bill Clark coached before he left for UAB. The kid probably just doesn't want to leave home. As you can see from this list, none of them really wanted to leave their home state.

Are we really upset about losing guys from a 6-6 team?  Long term success for FAU is building through the freshman classes.  NOT going the JUCO route or filling holes with a perennial losing team (which is what UAB is even with a 6-6 record).  Sorry.

I don't think anybody would care if we weren't a 3-9 team last season. JUCO isn't a long-term plan, but when you have immediate needs, it's nice to be able to plug those holes without having to wait 2-3 seasons to develop freshmen into good players. Alabama can afford to redshirt most of it's freshmen, FAU can't. Having a handful of JUCO players just affords us the time to develop our younger guys.

It's short sited.  The TE we signed was in community college due to academic issues.  UAB is not the answer.  If Charlie is the guy, I will build through freshman classes for steady sustained grown instead of up one year and down the next.  We had JUCO's last year we got all the way up to 6-6!  Then they left because the cupboard is bare and we dropped to 3-9.  Build depth through good recruiting and good coaching.  Not the popular answer but the smart strategy.

I think we're in agreement that building through JUCO is shortsighted, if it's the only strategy. But Partridge has put together probably the best recruiting class in school history, so he's clearly thinking long-term. But meanwhile, the team has clear needs that can be met through JUCO and transfers until the current recruits and signees have developed enough to be quality starters.

Here is an article about the UAB players and what has happened with some of them;

Ex-UAB players trying to stick together at their new schools - Yahoo Sports

Don't get why we have not gone after some proven D1 talant while others have ((including those on our schedule next year (Buffalo, WKU)) - or if we have, why were we not successful?
