Despite the loss, the Blazers do in fact appear to be a much improved team over recent years past.
With last weeks win thrown in against Southern Miss, the Bulldogs have scored 96 points against C-USA competition.

Middle Tennessee 24 Minnesota 35
RB David Cobb carried the Gophers to the tune of 220 yards and 2TD with a long of 48 yards.
WR Ed'Marques Batties hauled in a game high 88 yards through the air for the Blue Raiders, who went a respectable 7-of-15 on third down for the day and outgained Minnesota 445-351 in total yardage.

The Panthers match their most points since November 16th, 2012 season when defeating the Owls 34-24 at FAU Stadium.
Freshman RB Alex Gardner posted 139 yards.

QB Taylor Heinicke went 33-of-45 for the Monarchs with 2TD in the loss, also claiming their lone punt - a 53 yarder.

RB Kenneth Dixon was a man on a mission for the Bulldogs, rushing for 184 off 12 carries and 2TD.
Even with a long of 99 yards included, his average for the remainder of his touches was a stout 7.7 YPC.

Alcorn State 20 Southen Miss 26
Entering the week the Golden Eagles had lost 24 of their last 25 games. After today they have won two of their last three.
The squad was about as balanced as they come, netting 208 yards through the air and 207 on the ground.
QB Nick Mullens avenged last week's display with a 21-of-33 performance and a pair of TD's.

Rhode Island 7 Marshall 48
The Thundering Herd cruised to victory behind QB Rakeem Cato's arm and legs. The Miami, FL senior tossed for 267 yards (2TD), while running for another 143 (1TD).
Marshall posted 723 yards in total for the tilt, and limited the Rams to only 175 (1.6 YPC, 3.7 YPP).

In a back and forth affair, the Miners had their chances late. However, Tech turned up the defense when it mattered most and forced a turnover on downs with 1:23 remaining to hang on for the win.

The Defensive Player of the Week honor went to WKU junior DB Wonderful Terry, who had a highlight reel 95-yard strip and return for a touchdown in the Hilltoppers game at Illinois.
The Special Teams Player of the Week award went to North Texas freshman K Trevor Moore, who tied a school record with five field goals (three by 42 yards or longer) in a 43-6 win over SMU. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.
