After setting school and Conference USA records with 593 passing yards in WKU's first league game, senior QB Brandon Doughty has been named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

The Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Old Dominion senior LB D.J. Simon, who had 11 tackles in the Monarchs dominating defensive win over Eastern Michigan to become the first ODU player to win a weekly C-USA honor.

The Special Teams Player of the Week award was given to Middle Tennessee sophomore K Cody Clark, who had career highs for field goals (three) and points (14) in the Blue Raiders triple-overtime win over WKU. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league's media.

Wow, 11 tackles vs. MAC Eastern Michigan, not bad but not the same as a pick six and a fumble recovery in shutting down a GOOD O from a much better conference!

Oh,and WKU lost and he padded those stats a bit in the 3 OT game too. So a qb rating OVER  250 not good enough for CUSA O player of the week, must be some damn good conference we are in!

Unlike the Belt which went 0-10 this past weekend including a loss to a FCS team, Ouch, so glad to be out of the Belt, even with this weeks slights.

Did fairly well on my picks. Predicted all the winners but the Middle vs. WKU game, where I at least predicted that game going into OT.
LaTech shocked me with that type of performance against UNT. Mean Green's defense is no longer looking to be one of CUSA's best, and their offense is still struggling to find their footing. FWIW, they also had a very strong student turnout last Thursday night.
I was really close in predicting the FIU Pitt score, yet FIU did not embarrass the conference at all. At one point, FIU was up 16-0 on national TV by the end of the first quarter.
Marshall repays Ohio for their defeat last season.
UAB is looking a lot better than expected.
ODU's offense has found its kryptonite; rain.
Alabama is Alabama, Southern Miss is Southern Miss.
Didn't expect Okie St to win by that much, but impressive win for the Cowboys.
New Mexico St was no match for the UTEP Miners, yet both of which are much improved from last season.
Rice finally gets to play somebody their size next week.

Marshall senior quarterback Rakeem Cato has been selected as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. He earns the win over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl's Facebook contest.

Cato, a Miami native, tallied his fifth career 400-yard game, collecting 77 of those yards on a third-quarter touchdown strike for his 100th career passing touchdown, as the Thundering Herd remained perfect with a 44-14 win over Ohio.
