A lot more to do in Orlando than boca. UCF has been pushing for years to get a bowl at brighthouse.
It doesn't have anything to do with what city has more to offer. It is about who wants to sponsor a game, how much they are willing to pay, and where they want it. Heck, Orlando and Boca are probably nicer than a lot of places. It doesn't matter. If Bill Gates wants the Microsoft bowl to be in his basement and is willing to pay Millions, they will have a bowl game in Bill Gates' basement.
All of this "my city is better than your city" is a bunch of bull crap. It is a low-end bowl game, not the super bowl…big difference.

If you're going to say that UCF is in Orlando proper then FAU is in Ft Lauderdale AND West Palm Beach. The nearest attraction to UCFs campus is the Bithlo School Bus races, lets be serious.
Crystal meth is certainly more accessible in that part of the state, so perhaps that's what you mean by being greater. Oh and your boating and beaches are way better, forgot about that too. Say hi to Mickey for us.

I dunno. If somebody has a good rationale for this, I'd love to hear it.
Someone is willing to pay a bunch to make it happen.
And I agree it will hapen when a sponsor make it happen wherever… which again is too bad because there is ZERO THOUGHT about the fanbases of the schools involved in the game being able to travel there. The Bowls get their ticket sales even if zero people show and that is why even the BigBoys like Bama can lose money nowadays on Bowl games.

I think there is no difference between the two…the two regions each have their own unique things to offer fans who would come to the game. The advantage that South Florida (Boca in this case) is the region is not over saturated with bowl games. Just the Orange Bowl down here. Orlando has trouble filling their two Citrus Bowl games…the area is bowled out. My opinion.

That is funny. Your only argument is that fau is near the beach, big deal. I think a lot of families would rather go to the parks (10 minutes to universal and 20 minutes from Disney) than to the beach which is all you have to offer. I don't live in Orlando (which is where ucf is located) but I will be happy to say hi the next time I am up there. You make sure to say hi to Ethel and Walter the next time you are at the shuffleboard courts.

Me thinks Aqualung is not understanding something here…
1. Location, school, etc does not matter because it is the sponsors who have the dollars that make the decision.
2. Have you been to the parks in late December / early January? You are lucky if you get on two rides in 8 hours.
3. In South Florida you can go to sooo many different places. Miami offers nightlife, museums, South Beach, and much more. Even Boca has the beach, Mizner, shops, and much more. West Palm offers oodles to do including the beach, museums, nightlife, and much more. Heck, many tourists/northerners get a thrill out of going on boatrides in the Everglades seeing the wildlife and gators in particular. And while I may be splitting hairs here, it is normally around 80 degrees by us in South Florida (perfect beach weather), whereas it is in the 60s in Orlando.
So would you rather go put your bowl in:
A) A place that already has two bowl games that do not fill out at all that does not need a boost in overall tourism because it is already over packed (which is an understatement) with foreigners packed to the brim; or
B) A place that is not that overpacked and currently only hosts one bowl game that normally sells out with oodles to do spread over a 2 hour coastline with Florida Atlantic University situated in the geographic center of it all.
I don't know aboot you, but I would have to go with option B, which is putting a bowl in Boca Raton, Florida and effectively putting another bowl in South Florida.
I live in South Florida and attend the Florida Atlantic University. I also have either gone to the Capital One Bowl or Russell Athletic Bowl the past four years. The only time either was ever sold out (or even close to sold out) was two years ago when fsu played notre dame and both teams were ranked and on the rise. Otherwise, even when I saw Georgia (a team that was 4 yards away from getting into the National Championship) vs. a rising Nebraska team it was less than half full. It would be much easier to fill our stadium than either brighthouse or the citrus bowl and we are a virtually untouched area in terms of College Football postseason play. To me it is a no-brainer.
PS: I did not even get into the recruiting aspect. A team like Marshall or Uconn would LOVE to have it's team play in front of such a talent rich area.

Yeah people are lining up to buy Disney Front Properties to dock thier yachts at…please dont compare a theme park to the Atlantic Ocean…just embarassing.
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
