Nutt is a big name for sure, had a lot of success at Arkansas and even found success early on at Ole Miss but then the wheels seemingly fell off which ultimately led to him being fired

If I'm a kid who has verbal'd to FIU, I'm looking around right now. Nutt is a good coach but I don't know how we'll he'll assimilate from a cultural standpoint in Miami. Have ya'll ever seen the Pig Soeee video of the guy? He's not really a "Miami" type of guy.

Plus, there's still a lot of rumors floating around that Saban is going back to the NFL. He recently said he regrets leaving the Dolphins and the NFL.
I would think right now Alabama if it become available would be atop of anyone's coaching wish list, doesn't mean Bama will feel the same way but you'd think a guy like Houston Nutt with SEC experience would certainly express interest

If this drags into January will FIU have any recruits stick?

Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is removing his name from consideration for the FIU vacancy, a source told CBSSports.com Tuesday afternoon.
The 38-year-old Miami native–the son of former Miami mayor Manny Diaz–has decided against returning home because he felt the timing was not right. The source said that the coach is determined to help the Longhorns get back on top of the college football world.
This is actually hilarious to me! The man's father is the mayor of Miami and even he doesn't want to coach that team!
I thought this was funny too. He'd rather be an assistant coach at Texas than a HC at FIU.
Then again, with Cristobal being fired the way he was, that might have sent off some red flags to good coaches out there.

Great point, they may have shot themselves in the foot in NUMEROUS ways!

Re: FIU's Search For a New Coach....
"For two days, I've heard former Purdue coach Danny Hope was all but officially on board at FIU. But on Dec. 31 another source said that definitely wasn't true and another well-placed Camp Mitch source insisted FIU hasn't even talked to Hope. Both sources reiterated that to me today.
And one of my most trusted sources, never wrong before, tells me Hope was spotted on campus last weekend with President Mark Rosenberg".
