How much does it pay to host the regional?

Well its about location, location, location. The field is boxed in by the swimming center, the basketball courts, and tennis courts around it. So the problem is where would you put the supplies, where would you expand it out to, would you move the swimming center away from the area to give the ball field the space, the same thing with the basketball and tennis courts? Coach Mac needs a proper recruiting center besides the oxley center? So anything wont be done till the new athletic and academic center is built.

There may also be some Title IX issues. That may be why College of Charleston combined to some extent their baseball, softball, and soccer stadiums into a single facility that shares gates, concessions, and restroom areas. From a fan's viewpoint, what they have works well.

So very true so the question remains. Where do we get the funding? Wait for football to hit it up because of the money they bring in, hit up a potential donor, start a go find me page? if we wait for football we could be waiting for a while and with basketball the same thing.  I know money sports take priority but this team deserves the same consideration.

I really like the idea of combined facilities for baseball and softball.

I've talked to some FAU soccer alumni who thought their field was great as it was vs moving them to the track'nfield.

Regarding where the money comes from… I think baseball will likely be upgraded piecemeal from other sports revenues (or raises in athletic fees again which I feel FAU should avoid at all costs). Donors are notoriously hard to come by for us… unless FAU won a NC in baseball, which could happen despite our current situation.

So very true, unless one of us hits the lotto and we give a large portion to the department to help pay for it. lol. anyway, lets worry about it as the season winds down, and we get closer to tournament time.

I've been a big supporter in joint facilities for us. I would show some designs and a map to some friends and they would always shoot it down. But a joint facility for the track & field and the sand volleyball courts would be dirt cheap. A joint soccer, baseball, and swimming facility may be more difficult, but it's definitely possible. The outdoor basketball and tennis courts need to be replaced anyways.

You should have seen them back in 1997 when I used to play there…even at the way they are now, it is a night and day improvement.

At least we never had any trouble playing, always some raccoon around to sub in if an extra body was needed.
