FAU back into Collegiate Baseball Poll
I know Collegiate Baseball "offically" ranks teams from 1-30, but come on… In any other poll, everyone after No.25 is in the "Also receiving votes" category.
Its nice for the school in their press releases to herald the fact, but we don't need to encourage them.
It's the same as earlier this season when FAU wanted to use the Collegiate Baseball poll because they were ranked higher than in the other polls. If you notice now, they use their Sports Weekly/ESPN ranking because they are still in the Top 25.
Let's face it, FAU hasn't played well over the last month and has dropped out of 2 of the 3 "major" polls. Unless you still want to chant: "We're No. 29! We're No.29!"

After arriving at the 64 teams they are divided into 4 groups of 16(1 seeds,2 seeds, etc). Then they take one team from each group and set up the regionals. There is no difference in being ranked anywhere from #17 thru #32-they set up the regionals with geography and money in mind more than fairness. Texas at #1 almost surely would not end up facing #32 unless it happened to be a nearby school.
I know how disappointed many are that are conference record isnt better but we are in pretty good shape for the postseason with our good RPI rating due to a good non-conference schedule. Lets just hope we can finish strong to be sure we do have the #2 seed locked up. Its also important we make the ASUN tourney because even if our record and RPI ranking are good-the NCAA has never given a seed higher than 3 to a team who missed their conference tourney(Florida last year a good example).
Lets hope for a good week-3 or 4 wins would sure help our cause

Wait, remind me again what the difference is being ranked anywhere from 17-64? Does it really matter, since you're going to face one of the top 16 teams in the country anyway once you get to regionals?
All theses rankings, although somewhat entertaining, don't mean a whole lot during the regular season. Even regular season conference titles are over-glorified since you still have to win your postseason conference tournament to be guaranteed a spot in the regionals.
It's OK to not be ranked in the Top 25 in the polls sincew we have a great shot of making regionals, even if we lose the A-Sun tournament. Just don't say "We're back in the polls."
