FAU v UCF Tonight!

The crowds are definetly better, but there is still a lot to improve on. It'd be great to see that place packed, or at the very least half full. Last night would have been a lot better if school was in session, but still a decent crowd by recent standards. As far as the chants, anything but Who Let The Owls Out works for me!

The band has and will start and lead some cheers and little ditties that will get the crowd involved. But - duh! - the cheerleaders really have to teach the crowd participation to the crowd.

I agree with you all that somehow we have to get the crowd more involved. I also think that there are some things that could be improved upon. I'm not sure if this is even allowed but I think it would be cool if the announcer got more into the games. I'm not sure how many people watch the NBA but at Heat games when an opposing player travels, the announcer will say…. twoooooooooo many steps or at Detroit Pistons games when the opposing player turns the ball over, the announcer in a really annoying tone says "Detroit Basketball" and it really gets the crowd involved. Again, I'm not sure if that is allowed but I think it would be cool to have announcer that can get the crowd into games. Also, I think that the introduction of the starting lineup could be a little better. Having people move around the spotslights is a little weak. Maybe they can get like a strobe light in there or something I dunno. Another thing that I don't like is when the announcer says "owl fans…. can I get a hoooooooooooot" I just think that is rediculous. I mean, I know that I dont really like the owls as a mascot but I think that we have to say something stupid like that is just bad….maybe he can come up with something else to say but in my opinion that is just bad. As far as the cheerleaders go, I think they try to get people involved in the game but our crowd is mostly older people still. The more students that come to the games, I think the better the crowd participation will get. I mean lets face it, the younger crowd is the more obnoxious and the type of crowd that makes it tough on opposing players.

I just caught the background (UCF fans) in this photo. Taken as the clock expired, it says it all about last night.

I was gonna say, UCF usually brings down a sizeable group of fans, so that certainly swelled the attendance. Still, a big win for the guys. Is the same guy announcing that did it last year?? He got in trouble from opposing coaches last year for yelling stuff out during the game. "Hot potato on the court!!" anyone?

Back in the day, I used to be part of a rowdy bunch of fans who sat behind the opposition bench and just chanted and jeered the entire game. I guess we got too annoying at some point, and they started roping off that section for away fans only. Ridiculous.

Getting everyone to yell F-A-U and stamp there feet in time to the chant would be better than the "give a hoot" thing afterall, how loud can a human being hoot??

I maybe repeating what others have said, but I think that just getting butts in the seats still remains the number one priority - the crowd participation will come with time - I do believe that the crowd participation is much better then in the past and the band has done
a good job with generating cheers and again with time others will join in and make for a great atmosphere for games.

If the team continue to win and play hard like they have been then I see things getting better each and every game.

I agree, just getting enough people to actually form a crowd is impressive enough right now. Not that getting over 1,000 fans a night is the goal, but it is a good start. The atmosphere is secondary right now. As the building fills up, things will improve. Get that place half full, especially with more students, and it will rock.
