FAU has a good leadership base and they are going to get this stuff done to much riding on the line for ones personal goals and bragging rights.

Bytor one thing to consider after reading what you said, the young buck thats brought in to the program may just develop inti a star himself. I agree with your post it makes perfect sense and like I said we may end up with a diamond in the ruff. That part is to have a thourough screeniong process and look beyond the obvious.

I hope you guys have somebody lined up because recruiting is already in full swing and FAU will be joining the Sun Belt next year, the 13th ranked conference in the land. It's a significant step up.

If you don't already know, quality programs in the Sun Belt are the UL-L, the #13 seed in the Albuquerque regional (will play Louisville Friday). The Sun Belt also had two NIT invites this year; WKU plays Kent St. and Denver plays San Francisco at 9:00 and 10:00 pm resp.

Good Luck with the new hire and welcome aboard.

Thanks FIUFan. The Sunbelt basketball teams have been in the mix for a number of years. FAU will probably be playing catch-up for a couple of years. Then the incoming 2005 frosh should be coming around by 2007.

Tyrus Wade from UL-L is the real deal.. :D

140K is descent salary to attract a quality coach, especially if its loaded with incentives. Dan Hawkins, the coach of Boise State, had in his contract that he received a percentage of ticket sales over X amount. I love that idea, it gives the coach some extra drive. I don't know if that would apply to us if we built the dome because our ticket sales would increase 100 fold anyway but there are a number of other incentives.

DOHERTY
GILLEN
JARVIS

Personally, I would be happy with McMillin. He's coaching a great program at Lynn right now.

Its so random how here up in NY i know so much about these people. Scott McMillan was the head coach two years ago at Santa Fe Community college in Gainsville, my buddy was the assistant coach who is now the third assistant at eastern kentucky with travis ford.
I'm going to be able to get some good inside info next week after they lose to kentucky tomorrow.
If McMillan is a 70 Travis Ford is a 82 and Jarvis/Doherty/Gillen would be 99's for this program.

A few names have been mentioned and now that we know an unknow, the amount of money available to sign a new coach, what is the likely hood of getting a Doherty, Jarvis or a Ford.

It almost seems like Ford would be the more likely candidate from those three. All we can hope for is that we get the best possible coach that fits within our means. What about Jeff Price and why does Lynn seem to be able to attract better coaches then FAU? Bad hire from past AD's?
