Hoops Job Draws Interest

espn insider had a couple of paper from new york saying mike jarvis is extremely interested. My feeling on the coaches is to go young, but there are older coaches that have been out of a position for the last few years and would take 140k plus incentives. if they bring the team to the NCAA tourney in two years that could be an extra 50 grand incentive. I think a lot of people will see the potential in our program, heading into the sunbelt and the absurd succeess of football program and the idea of a dome. it's why angelos stayed and didn't go to byu. I think come tuesday people will be surprised to the canidiates that are interest in the job. (championship game is monday night)

I think with basketball you can have succeess within two years. especially with the nucleus we have, there solid bunch. some better recruits will be looking at us to with the move to the sunbelt.

We will never lose to colgate ever again.

Here is a quote from yesterday's ESPN Insider's Andy Katz article:

"The Florida Atlantic job is becoming the hot job. FAU is talking to a wide spectrum of coaches, from former high-major coaches to assistants, all of them clamoring for this gig in Boca Raton. "

Good to see. Hopefully we'll have a new coach by this time next week.

It's a good position to be in, considering. Just maybe one of these coach can see something they really like with FAU and would be willing to take $140K now, turn the program around and then get the big raise later.

Good point Bytor and if a coach (re: Schnelly) as reported by ESPN shows up to take the program and run with it. Payday will come but not until he creates a program that he can hang his name on with pride and get FAU's name known nationally.

Is it just me, or is it more fun waiting and guessing to see the next coach than it was to follow the team throughout the season.

One was all doom and gloom, but all the reports for the coach seem really positive. I'll take all the good news we can get. 8-)

So far it all seems to be good news. The one thing that concerns me is our facilities. FAU gymnasium (what a crappy name) is getting up there in age. The actuall floor is great but seating and the rest of the facilities were built in what late 70's early 80's? and with the football stadium being a priority I dont see a new gym in the near future. Allthough I did see the plans for it when I was wandering through the oxley center last semester. It was a gym incorporated with some other things and was call the "doners name" wellness center. It had the gym at one end and some other things on the other. I want to say It had swimming facilities also but I cant remember. I was impressed with it though.

They have already been approved for funds for the new gymnasium for basketball...it was done a few years ago, but they are waiting and hopefully going to use the funds for that to build the dome for football (since it also will hold the basketball games - that way the money is technically used for a new basketball gym ;))Since land is also an issue, and our school is running out of it.

Yeah, when I was a student there just about 2-3yrs ago. A good friend of mine was very political and the student government president, so I got all the inside scoop-plus I do remember it being in the paper.
