Owls Clinch USA Series With Three Run Ninth Inning Rally
FAU Catcher Mike Albaladejo readys this afternoon during game two
The Owls overcame a three run deficit to defeat the Jaguars of South Alabama in exciting fashion in game two of the weekend Sun Belt series 12-11.
Despite trailing 9 to 6 in the sixth inning, USA scored four runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth; building a two run lead heading into the ninth inning.
But FAU would "hit" stride with the pressure on. Nick Delguidice lead off the bottom half of the inning with a single. Sean Bukovich would follow with a one bagger of his own, pushing Delguidice safely to third.
Troy Bubley made it a trifecta, singling as well, and scoring Delguidice.
Anthony Mesa then took one for the team and that put FAU in quite familiar territory as of late with a full compliment of runners on the bases. They once again would seal the win, as William Block doubled in the winning runs to right field.
Glenn Troyanowski took the win for FAU, while Greg Johnson was the losing pitcher for USA.
FAU Designated hitter Tom Hatcher went 4 of 5 and racked up six RBI's on the evening.
The Owls go for a complete series sweep tommorow at 1:00PM EST.
