Owls Take Opener Against Seawolves

Mike Gipson struck out five in the win for FAU

Mike Gipson drew his second start of the season and picked up the victory for FAU tonight in a 6-1 win over America East Champions Stony Brook.

Gipson retired the first nine batters he faced and allowed just three more hits through the next three innings with no runs.

FAU began the game with back-to-back walks. Senior second baseman William Block would follow with a three-run homer to right.  The Owls held that lead and played perfect defensively through the fourth, when third baseman Troy Bubley hit his first homer of the season to give the FAU a 4-0 advantage.  FAU would add two more in the seventh.

Adam Morrison allowed just one unearned run in relief through two innings of play, while striking out two batters.  The Owls committed only one error on the night.

Mike Errigo took the loss for Stony Brook.

FAU concludes the series tommorow in a double header which begins at 1:00PM.
