Rod Delmonico interviewing

Coach Mac definitely deserves the head coaching position. Hes great at what he does and he has put in his time here.  Im hoping the athletic dept is going through this search because technically it is the politcally correct way to handle the situation.  But if coach mac is not given the job i will seriously have to start questioning the intelligence and intentions of Angelos.  I mean cmon, give us just one reason why coach mac shouldnt get the job.  Just one.

If they get someone from a bigger program instead of in-house, it would be seen as a "splashy hire"

Like someone said, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Re: Rod Delmonico interviewing

yeah i could see Angelos trying to bring in a bigger name from a bigger program like he continues to do every other year with basketball. In this situation i just dont agree with that aproach.  But hey that just my personal opinion.

On one hand, national searches are good. But on the other hand, if every major sport head coaching hire comes from outside, what's the incentive for very good assistants to stay? Surely this, too, must be part of the equation.

Re: Rod Delmonico interviewing

Real good news for us with the hiring of Terry Rooney at UCF because now we should have a better shot at Rod Delmonico.  I had figured UCF would outbid us but now they are out of the picture.  Once FSU is eliminated from the CWS who should finally get official news on whether we can bring aboard Delmonico.  Ive heard the chances are very good he'll be coming aboard and hes FAU's #1 choice but nothing is official he could still back out.  With him being an unpaid assistant coach and his son Tony likely signing with the pros he has very little reason to stay at Tallahassee and every reason to come here(you would think!)

Re: Rod Delmonico interviewing

I have mixed emotions about this. I do think Mac deserves it, but who is to say that someone else isn't more qualified?

This is a very attractive job. Cooney has built a solid base for recruiting, scheduling and has been a winning program.

I just hope we hire the right person for the job. I want Mac, but maybe we do need a completely fresh start. Our team has been a disappointment in my eyes the last 3-4 years.  We cannot get over a hump and we hit a huge slide once we get into the conference part of our season.

Like things, love people.

One reason Delmonico is able to be a volunteer coach for FSU is because Tenn is still paying him is old salary for the next three years as part of his buyout.

Get it, Volunteer coach, UT paying his salary. I thought it was funny. Man now im talking to myself
