Game Notes
Owls
Florida Atlantic was off for mid-week action after sweeping rival FIU last weekend. The Owls posted their first two walk-off wins of the season on Friday (4-3) and Saturday (9-8, 10), before closing out the series with a 10-1 victory on Sunday.
The Owls will try and preserve their five game win streak with yet another change in the rotation as Mark Nowatnick will remain sidelined for the next two weeks due to a foot injury suffered in post game celebration against the Panthers.
Coach John McCormack has a few options in that of Mark Stewart, Sean Labsan and could also employ a combination of bull pen members for short sessions.
Florida Atlantic currently holds a team average of .296 with Tyler Frank (.341), Austin langham (.331), and David Miranda (.316) all above the .300 mark. Miranda was awarded Hitter of the Week by the league after posting a .538 AVG, 7 RBI, 1.007 SLG%, .684 OBP%, and two homers for the period.
The Owls cracked two polls for the first time in 2017 this past week and currently sit at 28th in the Collegiate Baseball poll. They will enjoy clear skies and low humidity this weekend, although some late season cool temps will likely have Friday's opener in the upper 50's by game's end.
Golden Eagles
Southern Miss was also off in the mid-week and used a huge eight-run rally in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Middle Tennessee, 13-9, on Sunday to take all three games in Murfreesboro.
Junior LeeMarcus Boyd hit safely in all four games last week to up his current hitting streak to seven games to earn C-USA Co-Hitter of the Week along side FAU's Miranda. Hitting in the nine spot, he registered two hits in all four games and had a double in each game against the Blue Raiders.
The Golden Eagles, who scored 14 runs in the series opener on Friday, have now scored double-digit runs 18 times this season.
Through the first 46 games this season, USM has tallied 175 of their 393 runs aft er two were out in an inning which equates to an impressive 44.5 percent of its scoring.
First baseman Dylan Burdeaux leads C-USA in steals (14), at bats (217), RBI (52), and total bases (115) while tying for first in both hits (74) and doubles (17). He's .270 at the plate all-time against the Owls.

The Owls place two on with a lead-off double by Tyler Frank and a Miranda walk but they are left on.
House works an easy 1-2-3 bottom half of the first.

Not so good on the defensive side, as House walks the lead-off batter and gives up a single which Southern Miss cashes in on for the game's first lead. They tack on another run with Houses' second walk and hit of the inning respectively before swatting the big one over the fence for another three runs.

Labsan walks two, but gets out of the jam with a strikeout to hold the lead at 7-0 for the Golden Eagles.
Florida Atlantic will need to insert some offense now for any chance at coming back.
