SERIES THREAD: FAU vs. Rice - March 15th-17th, 2019
FAU 12 - Rice 6 | Bottom of 7th
Eric Rivera hit a solo home run in the 6th, followed by two FAU RBI singles. FAU allowed just one run by Rice in the top of the 7th, but then added two more to the board to further extend their lead
In classic South Florida fashion, we have encountered our first rain delay of the season! Hoping this storm passes quickly so the boys can finish this one up and bring in another win!
After the brief delay, the game is back on! Hoping the weather holds out as the Owls head into the top of the 9th
We'll see everyone back in Boca as we head into game 3 at 11 AM!
OWLS WIN! FAU 12 - Rice 7 | FINAL
FAU clinches the series against Rice in an exciting game 2! Despite an inconvenient rain delay the Owls managed to bring home the victory as they head into tomorrow looking to secure the SWEEP!
Urbaez-2R, 3RBI
Pages-2R, 2RBI
Montes-1R, 3RBI
This just goes to show how good of a man John McCormack is. I would be too petty to accept their request after they denied ours last year.
TIME CHANGE: #FAU's game today vs. #Rice has been moved from noon to 11:00 AM, in order to help the Houston Owls make their travel accommodations.

If you remember our tiff with Rice last year, you'll see the irony in this... 🙄
So far, so good for the Boca Owls! Three runs come across the plate in the first, with Pages hitting a two-run dinger.
A productive second sees two more runs for the hosts.
Sandberg comes in to take over for Swan on the mound.

For the second straight game, the FAU baseball team pushed across 12 runs on 16 hits, routing Rice by a 12-4 score on Sunday to take a three-game sweep on Conference USA opening weekend.
Six FAU pitchers combined to record 13 strikeouts, and scatter seven Rice hits, with zeroes thrown up in the eighth and the ninth for an eighth straight win (and 11 in the last 12).
Nick Swan (1-0), in his first outing of 2019, was superb. He allowed just one hit in two innings, and struck out four of the six batters he retired. Vince Coletti finished out the seventh and pitched a scoreless eight, striking out three.
“Really good way to finish off a weekend sweep to open conference play against Rice", said Head Coach John McCormack. "They kept chipping away and we just kept answering.”
With two outs in the FAU (14-7, 3-0 C-USA) first, Francisco Urbaez singled, Andru Summerall doubled him in, and Pedro Pages crushed a two-out homer to left. Another two scored in the second to extend the lead, but Rice (8-14, 0-3 C-USA) would cut it to 5-2 with one out in the fifth. With the bases loaded and one out, so the tying run at first and go-ahead run at the plate, reliever Dylan O’Connell notched a strikeout of Andrew Dunlap, and then got Justin Collins to line out to keep the three-run margin.
From there, it was pretty much all FAU. The team recorded sacrifice flies in the each of the next three innings, and tacked on four more runs (including another sac fly) in their final at-bat in the eighth.
It’s four straight road games for the Owls, starting Tuesday with a trek to the west coast to take on Florida Gulf Coast at 6:30 p.m.
