SMU is certainly committed to cheating NCAA rules in football and basketball.

I wish Doherty - along with those classes in management during his coaching void - had studied ethics and class.

What a way to go out, Matt. You really disappointed us.

We gave Doherty a seven year commitment with (most likely) the highest salary ever offered to a head coach at FAU. A year ago Doherty accepted… and today those terms are unacceptable. Working at FAU is, apparently, something worth running away from. Nothing positive can be said about our school because of this incident. To add insult to injury, we apparently have no "commitment to winning".

As Schnellenberger often says, if you aren't in it to win, what's the point of playing? It's a waste of taxpayer money otherwise.

Today our coach has left us as quickly as possible. Our facilities continue to age and funding is still elusive. Fans have been waiting for years for any progress on the Dome and the only news has been a plan to rent out the Boca campus to developers.

Nobody is lacking a "commitment to winning". What is missing is a commitment to FAU.

It's nice that he mentions that if it weren't for Brogan and Angelos hiring him he wouldn't be at SMU today.

I hope our next coach will have more respect for FAU.
