Troy hosted the tourney in Dothan (an hour south of Troy) last year and it was likely for a several-year contract. Then Troy moved to the SunBelt …
Dothan is a pretty good sized city, not far from the Florida panhandle beaches, and around 1:45 from Montgomery.
I tell you what, BMarkey, I'm wonderin' how FAU's women will do in the Sun Belt. I understand this is their last year in the A-Sun, right?

I think they should do well in the SunBelt. The men will struggle, or be in the middle of the pack, if Dougherty does not bring in some real players (which he could).
I'm not as familiar with the SunBelt women, but for the men, it's a major step up in play, intensity, atmosphere and RPI. Unfortunately the rest of the country and media see it as a minor improvement to the ASUN.

I am less concerned about the women going to Dothan every year, than I am with the baseball team having to go to Stetson every year, which of course, is always followed by their annual trip to Coral Gables.

Then again, I guess that is a moot point now. Where are some of the Sun Belt championship played.
The Sun Belt basketball tournaments are held on campus at Sun Belt schools. The tournament goes through a rotation. This year it was at Middle Tennessee. Next year it will be a Louisiana-Lafayette.
I believe our other conference tourneys are the same way in other sports.

I heard the Raiders' arena is nice. One of the topics Troy coach Don Maestri commented on all season was the niceness of SunBelt arenas. Troy's (and FAU's) is probably the worst in the league by far. Troy has a plan to build a new arena (now that football, baseball, tennis, track and softball are new and shiny), but nothing concrete has been announced yet.

Oooooooh! You are in for a REAL treat with women's basketball in the Sun Belt. Sun Belt women's hoops is unbelievable–one of the best mid-major leagues out there.
