4-star RB Jordan Scarlett decommits from FAU

Since the NFL was cited as a reason for the decision and we have someone there who captured national media attention on multiple occasions, I'm just thinking of Alfred Morris and asking what would Alfred do?

Well, I think we all know one thing he wouldn't be saying this:

"…at FAU, I would need to carry the team and I'm trying to get my body ready for the NFL."

Reeks of "self", but whatever…

Scarlett had this to say to the Sentinel:

"I felt like FAU wasn't the best decision for me academically and out on the football field," Scarlett said. "At my position, you need your body and at FAU, I would need to carry the team and I'm trying to get my body ready for the NFL."

I'm sure that is what other schools have been selling him.
But he right he's needs to save his body at South Carolina Just like Marcus Latimore he can save his body at UM just Duke Johnson has…..

Honestly with that comment screw wishing him luck. If it would have been " "hey I want I play on the big stage" I can't argue that.
But the I would have to carry the team is a shot at FAU.
Like I said we have seen how other schools treat RB's big or not.

Academically???
Sounds like he is just repeating what the other recruiters pitched to him to get him to decommit from FAU.
I can not agree with him on the academic concern but if his goal is the NFL, what real difference is it going to make? He is probably going to choose an easy major just to ensure he stays eligible. The other recruiters probably told him that FAU is not academically up to par with their university otherwise how would he come up with that excuse.

had a feeling this was going to happen. We have solid depth at RB so I'm not too worried about losing Scarlett. I'm more concerned with the "FAU Fab 15" falling apart. I wouldn't be surprised if Archer is the next to go. Who knows after that. I have enough faith in Partridge that we can still bring in a solid class but I'm hoping he can keep guys like Parr and Archer committed

I sincerely wish you nothing but luck, Jordan. I'm sure you helped us land a few guys that we probably wouldn't have, including your three star cousin. I got a conspiracy theory feeling this was quasi-coordinated anyways. I have no problem with the kid backing out on a verbal commitment. I mean, it happens all the time, and if we're going to recruit against the big boys it's going to happen a lot more often then we all want. What, we thought these big schools we're just going to hand over these recruits over to us on a silver platter?

So, we have no problem with "what is best for Jordan" as long as he's committed to FAU? So we're going to kick dirt on this kid because he's backing out on a verbal? Shame on us for have that kind of attitude. We're going to run home to mama every time a recruit decommits? All you do is just man up and go back out on the recruiting trail. Come on guys we should be bigger than that. The classy thing to do is to wish him luck and move on just like he did.

If it was truly that way, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it and that sentiment would be the most important and taken stance…but, just for the record, the below statement has rubbed quite a few folks (including a number of current & former players) the wrong way as evidenced by Twitter & Face Book activity:

"…at FAU, I would need to carry the team and I'm trying to get my body ready for the NFL."

A poor choice of words there by him.

I would also not go bat crap crazy either. Were still VERY early into recruiting season and a LOT can change. I have no doubt that Coach Harriot and Coach Partridge will stay in contact with the young man. Remember that Coach Partridge had one of the biggest recruting "steals" around when he got a young man to flip from Miami to Arkansas at the last minute.

Take the high road Owl Fans. Wish the man well and trust in the coachs to find and move the program forward.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I hear you, but this is a high school teenager which means our fans should be (and are) the adults here.

…if what a teenager says rubs people the wrong way, is that really surprising?….lol…

All the luck to him, have heard is a great kid.

If he really wants to get ready for the NFL, he should start playing linebacker or safety.  Runningback position in the NFL is heading to the same importance level as a kicker.
