4-star RB Jordan Scarlett decommits from FAU

Think of where this program was three years ago. I remember sitting at an away game where FAU got one first down. We are moving up faster than I would have guessed. Goes to show you what can happen when the right personnel  are in place. (Being in South Florida doesn't hurt either) Two more months !

And to think we're heading in to just our 13th season of football

I had a weird premonition that this would happen this weekend. Something about that most recent Miami unofficial… was that his third trip there with friends?

I don't think it has anything to do with carries - what legitimate runningback turns down the opportunity to get more carries? And if you're worried about getting injured then why are you even playing football? This isn't synchronized swimming.

Because if you're worth what you think you're worth, any team is going to depend on you. Trent Richardson had 1,679 rushing yards and 21 rushing TDs for Alabama in 2011… what was that, him being used sparingly? He was surrounded by other top SEC players at all positions and they still gave him the ball 283 times.

The excuse is bullsh*t.

Other people got in his head. He bought into it. He bought into his own hype. He wants to play on a team where he's going to continue to get national exposure, name mentioned on SportsCenter. He won't get that here. That has nothing to do with love of the game and everything to do with ego.

But what's done is done now. Ted Hutton was right: following recruiting is a waste of time.

I think Jordan's comments on his NFL futue is really the problem with College football today. The VAST MAJORITY of these kid's ARE NOT about the academics but ALL ABOUT their NFL careers. Even though a VERY small number will EVER have an NFL career.

I do have to agree with those who just wish the College's would NOT lower admissions standards for athletes thereby allowing those on campus who really have ZERO business being in College. The NFL should be forced to start it's own "minor" league or developmental league and STOP using the Colleges to develop their future players for free (to them - $5.2M a year to Stoops plus another HUGE amount just for the football staff at Oklahome is INSANE)!

I also feel the greed is going to very soon kill the game(s) at the College level as once they pay the first "paycheck" or "stipend" or whatever to a football player but not a baseball or softball player, then discrimination lawsuits at all levels will begin immediately and only the BigBoys with their hogging of the media revenues will be able to afford Collegiate sports. I really hate to feel this way but I do and I hope FAU can somehow continue our athletics programs.

You prove nothing until they sign and enroll in classes…if they never make it to campus it's a lot of nothing.

I think you missed the point.

GO OWLS!

Ted was taking the stance that covering recruiting was a waste of time given the chance for change of heart, qualification issues, etc - which I believe he missed the bus on.

There is a large amount of interest in following recruiting - as the dialogue, and page views confirm.

Anyone know how Ted is doing?  Did he finish his program?
