Charter Oak (Calif.) WR Chris Gilchrist signs with FAU Football

Wow just wow the speed is what gets such a smooth runner for 6'5 i have seen many many highlight tapes and only a few have shocked me and this one does.

Exactly how I felt when I watched that…its rare a highlight tape impresses me.  I dont know how this kid wasn't highly touted.

Put him and the two new TEs out there. QB should be able to find a mismatch somewhere.

"They showed the most interest, even though it was late," Gilchrist said.

"I talked to them every night. They have a whole new coaching staff, so it's a fresh start for me and them."

"It was nice to know that somebody wanted me to go play football for them."

"It's just a feeling you get when somebody puts a lot of effort into talking to you, trying to get to know you and wanting to meet you."

He has excellent size and good speed.  If he gains 30 pounds he would be tough to stop.

Go Coach P. the fact we are even looking in California is a big step up from our previous recruiting efforts... I think coming from Nebraska (who recruits from the entire nation) will be a good thing for our future recruiting... I know there is tons of tallent in FL but almost every big school in the nation also shops in FL for recruits... If we want to be the "boise state" of the east we need to keep looking afar for tallent.

Graham Wilbert is from California.  We dont need to recruit California, we need to have a bigger impact in our own backyard and keep kids home.  We do that through infrastructure and hard work.  Infrastructure (stadium, weight room, campus, etc.) gives our program a better reputation amongst Florida people in general and especially recruits peers and family.

We need people to speak well about our University and program in order to recruit the kids that we all want.  The stadium was a monster step towards that….a better or refurbished training facility will be the next (I think they are asking for $150,000 for the lockerroom at the Oxley Center which is the tip of the iceberg at that building).

I'd like to see us use our camps and maybe host an annual BBQ at the stadium and other events like that to get kids on campus and talking.  If I am Pelini I am starting to go after USF and Miami recruits..we have a lot of negative recruiting towards both programs and a lot of positive towards ours right now.  The only advantage those 2 programs have is conference.  If we ever go to a bigger conference those programs better watch out.

All for this, and I think something like this would be awesome.

Turn the stadium lights on, and invite all the top kids around. Recruits would love this, and it provides a chance to create connections. I could just see Jarred Allen out there right now, standing next to CP getting the next big recruit.

Come to think of it, you know how cool/good that would look in our stadium? …. hmmm… How much cooler does our stadium look than UF's??? Just sayin….

I'm not saying dont recruit locally but if you want to play with the big boys you need to look afar for tallent aswell… Coming from Nebraska Coach P. knows this…

You guys crack me up… This is one of the best recruiting years we have ever had and a large portion of our best players came from out of state but you're still beating the "lets only recruit in florida" drum… Im sorry that is small school Sun-Belt thinking… Myself and I'm sure Coach P. are thinking of moving FAU up in the world…

+1  If the kid can play I don't care what state he comes from.
