Dawkins still hearing from FAU

Plantation (Fla.) wide receiver Jewison “Juice” Dawkins has been on FAU’s recruiting radar for quite some time now. The last time his name was mentioned, it was rumored that he was going to commit to a school.

Dawkins never made that decision, but that doesn't mean FAU still isn’t involved.

The 6-foot-1, 155-pound prospect has been frequently hearing from recruiting coordinator Jeff Sims and recently took an unofficial visit for the Marshall game.

“He (coach Sims) is sending me a lot of hand written mail and giving me some motivation,” Dawkins said. “I would definitely put them in my top three, and I want make a decision pretty soon.”

While it’s not certain if Dawkins will make a verbal pledge within the next month, it’s clear that FAU is going to be a factor. Over the summer Dawkins worked out with current Owl’s wide receiver William Dukes and developed a friendship that has continued.

“He’s real cool, we hung out a couple of times and worked out,” he said.

UMass appears to be also in the picture, as Dawkins mentioned that he’s talked with the coaches about an official visit in December. Dawkins also confirmed that he will be unofficially visiting for FAU’s upcoming Tulane game.

FAU hasn't had much success recruiting local wide receivers recently. The coaching staff was high on Blanche Ely's Kenneth Rawls, but he switched his commitment from Western Michigan to Northern Illinois. It will be interesting to see what Dawkins eventually decides, or if the coaches move on.
