@owlcountry40…..look at how many jucos were offered last year, and then look to see how many are impacting the team. I would say four. More than one didn't make the team and grades weren't the only reasons. A few made the team and are back ups. I'm not against getting jucos, it's just eventually we have to line up a freshman QB for the future.

Well, we do have at least one offer to a freshman QB and there are probably more that we don't know about.

What I do not understand is why one, JUST ONE, real good high school qb would not just say "screw it, i'm not wasting time at uf or uga or fsu to be a backup my whole career. I can just go to FAU and start for four years and have a better show at making it in the pros than I would riding the pine. ROLL OWLS"

This post has more to it than you realize.

We are currently running a spread offense.  Miami, Florida, Florida State….dont run the spread offense.  We aren't even really competing with them for the type of QB we are looking for.  There has to be at least 15 very talented spread offense QB's in highschool every year.  Pelini just has to start recruiting and signing them.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Did you not read my post? Brissett and Driskel are both dual threat QBs… in other words SPREAD qbs.

There are way more spread qbs nowadays than prostyle anyway.

Wouldn't call Brissett a dual threat quarterback. And why did he go to Florida after Jeff Driskel had already committed? Because Charlie Weis was the offensive coordinator and Brissett was his guy. He probably told him he could help him make it to the NFL based on his experience. Therefore it wasn't a mistake for him to go to Florida. He had the same opportunity as Driskel did to win the job.

Yes, he had the same opportunity as the number 1 recruit in the nation.

My point is he could not have asked for more competition. At almost any other school he would have been guaranteed to start at some point in his college career. However, he chose to follow the number 1 recruit of the very same signing class.

Re: FAU has offer out to Juco Pro style QB Jake Waters...

It is 100% true that the UGA's and Bama's have TONS of talent BURIED on thier rosters that will NEVER see the field but would start for 3 or 4 years here! Kid's go there for the competition, the status, AND because they were deceived or even plain lied to by the Coaches of those level schools who want to stockpile depth as well as find starters AND keep talent away from their competition.

Thus… we get the "leftovers" or lower level talent and thus we need JUCO's to step in and play right now rather than wait 2 or 3 years for a 250 lb. OL to "maybe" grow and strenghten.

We actually have 2 OL both well over 6 ft and 300 lbs and both sitting on the bench

Chris Chapell 6'9" 310 lbs - recruited in 2009 not sure if he's ever played a game and I'm sure he's more than 310 lbs by now

and

Johnathan Ragoo 6'7" 342 lbs - Transfer from MN not sure what his deal is either

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I believe Ragoo was injured.

Chappell, I dunno. Maybe he has problems with technique? He was supposed to be a huge get for us because of his size.

And Vile has played very little. We may have the biggest O line sitting in the nation. And I don't get it either, we don't even seem to have a BIG package for certain situations on O or D lines!

Penn State now on him as well…….

Lions like JUCO QB Jake Waters

Glad Coach Pelini made the haul to the heartland, but me think this guy is a long shot.

Penn State has offered…as has Kansas State.

Mixing with the Big Boys now!
