Dukes, Stoshak, Mccants, Richardson, Glinton, Whitehead… and I am probably missing some. Not to mention Solomon & Woods (I think Mitchell will play safety). WOW!!!! We literally have too many good wideouts… have we ever had a problem like this? I feel like we usually have one or two palatable options.

Yes, we had this luxury in 2007 and 2008 we had 5 legitamate WR's…Lester Jean was the 4th.

Now we just need to make sure we got the right guy throwing them the ball. Looks like all of our QBs are run-first guys so hopefully the talent we have at WR is utilized this year. Can we start a "Wilbert enroll in grad school at FAU" campaign? lol

Why is it that when we needed more of a running qb last year we couldn't have one and now that the WR's are loaded we get the runner? oh well hopefully coaches don't get TOO obsessed with running!

Curious, when did you read what WVU's coach was saying about him?  Why?

When he was either benched or suspended by Holgerson in the beginning of the season.  I like to get a broad understanding of what's happening in cfb.

McCartney has caught nine passes on the year for 112 yards. He's fifth on the team in receiving yards

Big news?  These are his stats last year before leaving West Virginia in November.

So are we just ignoring his sophomore season where he caught 49 passes for almost 600 yards and 3 tds?

He is a good receiver and LOTS of things went wrong up there at WV this year. I think Geno MORE THAN slightly favored throwing to his Miramar teammate WR Bailey and they are both gone from WV now as well as McCartney too.

I'm curious to know if this guy would still come here as a walk-on. Granted, if the talent is really there he earn a scholarship next year but you'd think a guy like that would be put off that they wouldn't use a scholarship on him.

That being said, I don't think we should extend scholarships to guys like this until we're sure that it's going to work out. For instance I'm not sure if we used one for Duron Carter but clearly that was a waste of everyone's time.

Well, the end results with Duron were a zero but the effort was there and FAU took a shot thinking since he had not played in over a year already the NCAA "might" let him as opposed to basically taking away his college eligibility with NO violations of any NCAA rules. Guess not, but we did see the kid from Fresno St. was allowed to transfer to Oklahoma (read BIGBOY program) and play immediately by the NCAA because his Dad had allergies! As we all know, the NCAA is NOT very consistant in ANY of its rulings or dealings - and that is putting in VERY nicely.
I think FAU took as hot and yes, it did not work out, but they DID take a shot. When you are BY FAR the worst program in the nation you gotta do things differently and be aggressive.

Chalk up the Carter issue as a learning experience.  I think it was the right move to make, but in the end it didn't work out.  I'm just glad to see FAU "going for it"
