Not a single Florida school offered Denard Robinson a scholarship at QB…all he did was set the NCAA QB rushing record.

Most big schools wont give kids that dont fit the bill a chance to play QB - 6"2 - 6"5 with a big arm.

Mack Brown didn't forget how to coach he has just missed on a lot of the 4 and 5 star guys everybody is claiming makes you an automatic success.

We've debated this before and I respect your position because obviously there is truth to the fact that the more high school all americans you have the more LIKELY you are to win…however, putting the right players with the right attitudes in the right system and developing them simply cannot be overlooked.

I've been watching college football a long time, sure you have too…it's fickle.  Even a coach like Bowden who had 14 years in a row in the top 5…I'll repeat that, 14 years in a row in the top 5 missed on a few 5 star no question about it QB's (Xavier Lee, Chris Rix, etc) and he was basically run out of town.

My point is, Pelini needs to give this team an identity and recruit to it.  Almost as importantly, he needs to use what little experience he has and make sure the assistant coaches he makes part of his team know how to develop players.

I'm pointing out a problem. You choose to ignore it, make excuses. I make suggestions to fix the problem. You ignore it, make excuses. There is a term for this… it's called denial.

We have won 14 of our last 51 games, only produced 3 NFL draft prick (two of which were late round picks), no national award winners, no conference titles since the SHARED title of 2007, and continiously finish the near the bottom of almost every national stat category. And yet you claim our players are talented.

Case and point:
Quez Johnson was hyped up sooooooo much this summer. Guess what? He has a QB rating of 91 (the 9th worse QB in the nation).

Melvin German, probably the most hyped recruit ever by FAU fans and coaches. Guess what? He lost his job to the 9th worse QB in the nation.

Anyone who thinks star rankings are meaningless with regard to recruits.

I sent Pelini an email stating we need to start signing more 4 and 5 star all americans...we'll see if he listens.  Problem Solved!

For Pelini's sake, I hope he does listen to you, Walty. Because Pelini is in his second year of his three-year deal with FAU and it’s very difficult to ask your boss for a contract extension when you already have a 4-11 record.

Look, I’ve been hearing the same story from you guys about recruiting since 2009. And since 2009, FAU has only won 14 of its last 51 games. Stop pretending like we've struck oil, when in reality we've discovered a leaky septic tank. Yes, we find a gem or two in every recruiting glass, but clearly the bulk of our recruiting classes don't produce winning seasons.

Stars aren't everything, but they're a real strong indicator of success.

You follow recruiting much closer than I do…in your opinion stars or not, are we getting better recruits since Pelini has been here or is it more of the same?

Haha, you're still missing the point…why dont we get all-americans to come to FAU?  I know you have some suggestions…I have reality.  We're a mid-major program that is a little over 10 years old that lacks facilities to compete with the big boys.

By the way, you want to compare the "stars" in USF's past 3 recruiting classes to FAU's?

Point is, schools like BYU, Utah, Boise State, TCU, ECU, etc all do a good job of winning without signing 4 and 5 star players.  You want to compare the "stars" on the Texas team that just got blown out by BYU?

Give Pelini a chance to get his players and his culture ingrained in the program before writing him off.  There is much more that goes into recruiting than just saying…we should sign better players.  Let Pelini get the team an identity and recruit to it.  Maybe have a winning season and see how recruiting goes?  Just saying "we need to sign 4 and 5 star guys" isn't a plan at all.
