Recruiting Tools

dont have to eat "prime rib" when your looking for something above the ground chunk grade….ground sirloin would be an improvement….

ok, meat comparisons aside.  Were not looking for 5 star or even 4-4.5, but we should be filled with 3-3.5 star talent for the fact that you will be on the field RIGHT AWAY.  Ohh yah and though were young look at what we have accomplished……

If your a slightly above average player you come here and get a good education, and some personal attention from the coaches (since youll be well above average here).  Most collegate players dont make it pro, but if your a star on this team you might be an average player someplace else…..You will get more looks for being the "star" here.

I agree with all your points, but regardless of star-level of the recruit, it is very expensive to recruit nationally.  It also requires additional demands on the time management of our recruiting personnel.  You have to be in the recruits face a lot, so then the close ratio of landing someone is no where near the close ratio of landing a Florida recruit.  We will spend a lot of time away from recruiting areas right under our nose and will begin to lose some of those as well because we are chasing someone out in Nebraska.

I agree this is the direction we need to take, but with an athletics budget of $12M, our resources, both financially, and personnel wise are limited for now.  It really comes down to what gives you the biggest bang for the buck.  FAU has done an incredible job getting the most they can with the resources they have. There will always be that special occasion to invest in a trip when the odds are greater, but as far as full-scale recruiting, we are years away.

It's not because we refuse to recruit a certain way or that we are out of touch with recruiting.  It is the resources we have to work with.

Re: Recruiting Tools

We need to get sme players in the nfl. Thats the dream most of these kids have when they continue playing football at the collegiate level. It can only help when a recruit looks at our program and he can see a proven track record by our coaching staff to help players reach their goals and dreams of making it to the next level.

Re: Recruiting Tools

Build the program and the players will come...its really that simple.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
