Rivals updates ratings!

After seeing the Oxley and knowing Lockhart its amazing we ever got anybody to commit to our program before.  Very frustrating.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Am I reading this right?

10 3 stars this year for FAU compared to

10 3 stars for FAU over the last 8 years combined?

Wow!

The old regime was always hunting for diamonds in the rough, and early on they did the leg work to make it happen. Thats why many of us were not fond of the star system, it isn't always good at the low end of the spectrum.

On a side note I think this class has more JUCO commits then weve had for the entire history of the program.

I think Jeff Blanchard was the only JUCO we have ever signed, and we had to beat like Sam Houston State out for him. Lester Jean went to a prep school, but the coaches never recruited him to FAU. He literally had to walk into the Oxley and ask for them to watch his film.

I just toured the facility a few months ago with the Runningbacks Coach David Serna.  It was a complete mess.  The flooring in old and cheap.  Most of the rooms have old beat up desks in them.  The weight room is WAY too small and they have let outside companies rent it out to do training for kids….the weight room at a program like ours should be for our athletes ONLY.  They cut down the budget for janitors so there was garabage everywhere.

They need to revamp it badly.

So the equipment is still ok, its just the lil things. From the sounds of it Coach Pelini is into the strength and nuitrition end of things. Maybe there will be a revamp of those things. If you dont have to get all new equipment and its basically refurbing things it shouldnt be too bad.

I oftern wondered why they didnt put a weight room in the new stadium. That would of made sense IMHO.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I've been there a few times and I was never impressed. It smelled bad, yes it's a work out/locker room but it should look and smell nice if we are showing it to recruits. I think a new paint job and new floor could do wonders. Get an interior designer to come rearrange the place, lol. (Sorry, I watch too many of those shows when I'm home with my mom, lol)

Probably because it's not near the practice fields/Football offices.

I agree that the Oxley can use an update and I'm sure that it's on Pelini's list.  I haven't been in the Oxley in years, and I don't know if it needs a complete overhaul or not, but I'm sure it could use sprucing up as it's over a decade old now.  Now that the stadium is in place, winning will take care of a lot of these other problems.  A winning season or two and we'll be in a better position to get the funds necessary for an Oxley Update.  Hopefully this is something that Howard is out there fundraising for as well.

It's bad but it's not "Lockhart bad" just yet. For what it's worth the Master Plan does show a large expansion of the Oxley down the road.

They're probably not overly concerned with the weight room just yet since the new Rec Center opened up and plenty of athletes use that as well.

And there may still be a weight room/football operations center in the stadium. I believe that was part of the expanded stadium design.
