Tracking the Commits - 2013 class

I just wonder how many of these guys will actually play the positions they are listed as, a lot of these guys' highlight tapes show them playing pretty well at multiple positions. Someone should go through our depth chart and figure out what positions they really need to fill and really are after.

Marcus Clark DB North Florida Christian – Clark rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns as his schools beat Eagle’s Landing 41-19 in the regional semifinals. The Eagles will now travel to University Christian – where current Owl Jenson Stoshak attended school – for the regional finals. Up next: @ University Christian (10-1)

Llyod Howard RB/WR Palm Beach Central – Central rallied to beat Palm Beach Gardens 27-19 Friday night. Howard was arguably the player of the game, rushing for 170 yards on 23 carries. The ball carriers long runs set up numerous Broncos’ touchdowns. Up next: @ Seminole Ridge (7-2-1)

Lester Thomas DB Godby – Thomas had 7 tackles and an interception as Godby knocked off West Florida with a 28-10 win. The interception marked the defenders fourth of the season, as he also had three pass deflections in the game.  Up next: @ Wakulla (11-0)

Season over:

Before you read, I just want to say for some of these kids it’s hard to get their stats, but I try and dig up what I can.

Week 8:

Austin Bland OL St. Thomas Aquinas – Bland blocked for a passing attack that threw for five touchdowns in a blowout 63-13 district win over Nova. A huge game lies ahead against Plantation, as both teams are undefeated in District 15-7A play. Bland will have to contain defensive lineman Monty Nelson who holds offers from Missouri, Louisville and Michigan State. Up next: Plantation (6-0)

Austin Bland plays plantation this week and will once again go head to head against Monty Nelson. In the first match up Austin thoroughly dominated Nelson making him irrelevant the entire game. FAU has gotten a Steal by landing Bland. Rivals at the end of last year had Austin ranked as the 21st best guard in the nation. Austin had to sit out the entire spring with a minor knee problem so rivals decided to take him from 21st best guard to not ranked! I know Austin well and I can tell you that FAU is getting a Beast. On Paper he is not the biggest he is 6'3" 285 but there is not alot of fat on this kid…. Austin lives in the weight room and has close to a 400lb bench. There are not alot of players in this country who can say they have played the level of competition that Austin has. He has matched up with some of the top d-lineman in the nation and pretty much beat them all…. As a junior he dominated all world D tackle and Sr. FSU commit Justin Shanks. Not to mention that he plays against probably the best D-lineman in the nation every day at practice Ohio State commit Joey Bosa and more than holds his own. Austin as most of you know attends St Thomas Aquinas high school and he has been a 3 year starter there witch at St Thomas that is saying something about the kids ability.  He has been coached by probably the best high school o-line coach in Florida Jay Connolly and will be college ready right away… I'm writing this post to just enlighten Owl fans on who Austin Bland really is. He is a great kid with no baggage and I know that he has passed on bigger schools to stay home and he is excited to be apart of the 2013 class that Will help turn things around. This is my first post here everyone and I hope I didn't babble to much…I will be around the program the next few years so I hope to get to know as many of you as possible…. Thanks everyone and lets go owls…..Jay

Playoffs  - Regional Semifinals

Austin Bland OL St. Thomas Aquinas - The Raiders rolled past Plantation with a 38-7 victory on Friday night. Bland appeared to do well blocking highly touted DT Monty Nelson, as his team ran the ball with ease. Up next: Boyd Anderson (9-2)

Marcus Clark DB North Florida Christian - The Eagles where upset by University Christian losing 44-31 on the road. Clark ran for 108 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns - including a 62-yard scamper. He also added two tackles on defense, but the effort wasn't enough.

Lloyd Howard RB/WR Palm Beach Central - Howard was limited to just 38 yards on eight carries as the Broncos ended their season with a 31-7 loss to Seminole Ridge. The team's powerful run game never developed against a defense chalked full of Division-1 talent. Howard will now run track in the spring.

Lester Thomas DB Godby - Thomas was part of a Cougar defense that limited Wakulla to only  27 yards of offense in the second half en route to a 14-7 victory. The cornerback had arguably his biggest game of the season, intercepting two passes and recovering a fumble. He also added eight tackles and a sack. The win is the first for the program in four tries against the rival school, and propels the squad to the Regional Finals.  Up next: @Bishop Kenny (9-3)

Re: Tracking the Commits - 2013 class

Austin had a solid game and for the seconded time this year held Monty Nelson to a game where he was ineffective. Western Kentucky offered Austin this week but he still holds firm about staying homeland building the Fau program …. Coach Simms will be at the st Thomas game this Friday there are a couple of jr o-lineman I hope he looks at for sta in crozier and Linder who's older brother is the starting guard for university of Miami. Maybe the coaches can start a pipeline to sta and get some of the tremendous talent they have there!!!
