@Rick, the three star that said he would be interested if UM shows interest already is a flipper. I would not be surprised to see him flip two more times before next February.Posted On: May 11th 2016, 4:58 PM #356116

Yep. These guys commit to have something and then use their commitment announcement to try and get attention from the people from whom they REALLY want an offer.

I want guys that want to be Owls.
Can't sell the record or "Up and coming" because we've been losers for awhile now.
In that case our selling points are:
- Our coaching staff connecting with the recruit and the family better than the other schools.
- Our location/campus.
That's where we can flip the guys who are committed to the Midwest and Northeast programs. Except #2 doesn't seem to work vs in-state schools.

I wouldn't be so quick to say we cant sell the "up and coming" aspect of our football program. While our W/L record does not sell an up and coming perspective…our dedication to an improved program and student athlete experience is certainly up and coming.
If you look at the South Florida region specifically, we still have the newest on campus stadium. We are in the progress of building an academic center and indoor practice facility. Our campus in general is constantly improving. Boca Raton as a city is growing and getting younger while becoming more accepting of the University. Being in CUSA (which I believe has more exposure and credibility than the SunBelt) is still a relatively new situation.
Even though we have had a bad W/L record over the last X number of years, the persecption even among the every day people that live in South Florida about FAU has changed for the better over the recent years. When we were winning bowl games the general population did not recognize FAU football as up and coming. It's the investment in infrastructure that changes those opinions (stadium, facilities, level of recruits (we have a lot more 3* recruits in the last 2-3 seasons then ever before).
Also, the way Charlie and his team of coaches along with Pres Kelly have promoted the University is changing perception. The relationships CP has with S Fla highschool coaches is certainly a plus as we have them cheerleading and giving credibility to the program by word of mouth which will continue to change perception among HS student athletes.
I know winning is a big deal, but it sure feels like we are building the foundation and culture along with the infrastucture to do so. I'm excited about the future and certainly feel like we are "up and coming".
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
