Updated: QB JP Caruso Visiting

I just read where U. of Western Michigan has a commitment from a four star QB. What the heck. How about us .  ?

They now have 7 three stars plus the 4 star verbal qb from Michigan. We gotta recruit A LOT MORE out of state.

S. Florida kids don't really want to stay home!

I agree 100%, BUT it is expensive.

What a lot of people don't realize is that when a scholarship is given, that money still has to be paid to the University.  The money for a scholarship has to be raised or donated, etc.  So for an out-of-state recruit, the cost of out-of-state tuition has to be raised.

That's why the Owl Scholarship Fund (OSF) is so important.  Formerly, The Owl Club, this is how this type of money is raised.  I know we have all given until it hurts, but this is what has to happen to get to the next level.

I looked into the UWM QB a little more and although he has a four star rating he is graded only slightly higher than Dristel. As far as the out of state scholarships, UWM has about half from outside Michigan. That has to be very expensive for a program like that. We don't need to go outside Fla to fill our team. We simply need to keep our kids from leaving. Florida arguably has more talent than any other state in the country.

But the school CAN waive that and only charge in-state tuition to athletics IF IT WANTS TO. As I have posted before, schools such as Troy or Jacksonville St. in Bama only charge in-state tuition to out-of-state students if they march in the band, and marching bands up there are made up of 300-400 members, not 80-100 like football. If they can "afford" that for band….
