Re: 2013 FAU Football Spring Practice Schedule & Discussion

A quote & note from today's practice, March 20th…

"I'm happy two practices in,” said Carl Pelini, FAU’s head football coach. “We will have a drop-off time, but we were a better football team today, we looked sharper. In spring, you install new things everyday so the new installs were a little rusty, but the things that carried over from Monday were better."

During team drills, junior quarterback Stephen Curtis hit classmate Hakeem Ishmar for nearly 70 yards and a score. Sophomore Jenson Stoshak also had a big day at receiver.

Going back to day one of spring ball, Dieter had this report on practice:

Notes from the first day of spring practice - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Now, there are two possibilities here:

- Dieter really thinks we will have a great team this year, as the only unit he sees a problem with is our o-line (and they have a lot of time) & he sees many NFL-caliber players on our roster; or

- Dieter is starting to drink the kool-aid!

FAU Owl Athletics ?@FAUOwlAthletics #FAU's Jaquez Johnson hits William Dukes deep for a TD. Final session.

FAU Owl Athletics ?@FAUOwlAthletics  #FAU newcomer Jaquez Johnson hits WR Robert Lohnes for a 20 yard gain. Practice continues with more scrimmaging.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Here's a note to note and a quote to note from today's session March 25th, via SID Katrina McCormack:

FAU also continues to install, causing the practices to have its ups when the plays are something the units are accustomed to and its downs when it is a new install or read.

"It's hard in the spring because you're always installing,” said Carl Pelini, FAU’s head football coach. “There are always parts of practice which are going to be rough, for example a new coverage went in today, and as a coach you have to remember to be patient. You have to think about what was called on that play, if it was new stuff you have to be a little more patient than the stuff we already have in."
