GAME DAY THREAD: North Texas @ FAU - 09/29/12 @ 5:00 PM

so we have a bye week. Time for the staff to really hit up on the mistakes and may listen to player complaints. Have two weeks to prepare for ULM.

We will need it…they have much more of a complete offensive package to offer, unlike tonight's opponent.

Good to have the downtime come now.

I know we've praised Wilbert a lot this year for his turnaround, but he was horrendous tonight. First play of the game, he had a guy wide open who would have gone to the house, and missed him. Actually missed four throws on the first drive alone. I appreciate his improvement from last season, but tonight looked like last year.

Seemed to be similar to what we've seen a lot of this year. Team sleep walks for all but about a five minute burst. In those five minutes, they look like they can beat anyone. The rest of the game, you see a team that would struggle mightily in FCS. It's frustrating. We'll turn things around though in the coming years.

Also need to remember to bring ear plugs for the PA guy. Ack that voice.

The teams need to learn how to win again and that will take time and coaching. Unfortunately, according to Owlcountry we have neither. If your looking for instant gratification you're routing for the wrong university. I still believe the program is headed in the right direction with this coaching staff, however only time and recruiting will tell.

I have this sick feeling that Angelos will have his final laugh at FAU football by leaving us with pelini for years to come. This program needs a boost.. excitement. Pelini is boring. I am so sick of hearing him talk about execution. How about EXECUTING a flippin win against another sunbelt school. If he cannot even win a game or two in conference play this year, I hope Chun is man enough to send him packing.

Wow! Everyone needs to relax! You can't expect a coach to turn around a terrible football team with someone else terrible players in half a season. Why would Chun fire him? It's been 4 games!! You people need to relax.

It's going to be a long season and we may not win another game this season but Pelini will do his thing and he will bring in the recruits and slowly you will see an improvement. Patience is a virtue my friends. Lets see how it all pans out before we worry about firing a coach after 4 games

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Angelos and HS left us in this predicament. Execution, discipline and skill win football games. And since we don't have any skill (not pelini's fault) or discipline, we better execute!

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: North Texas @ FAU - 09/29/12 @ 5:00 PM

The players need to learn how to execute better on both sides of the ball. The D was outstanding tonight, except for when LeBlanc fell down and the UNT WR ran past him for the TD but he recovered from that and he knew he got beat. The DB's have to learn that they need to turn around and look to see where the ball is, so that pass interference isn't called.

As for the offense, 3rd and 4 and we throw a 2 yard pass over the middle? First of all why is anyone running 2 yards when you need 4 for the first down, and 2nd why is Wilbert even looking at him? You have to know where that first down marker is. Another thing about the offense I don't get. We go no huddle and that's fine but isn't the whole point of no huddle to snap the ball quickly and get a play off? You can see in the 3rd and 4th quarter UNT was exhausted but we take FOREVER and a day to snap the ball. Playclock starts at 40, and we're snapping it with 7 seconds left. Why does it take 33 seconds before we're ready to snap the ball? The wildcat was working as was the screen pass but it seems like they started to move away from both as the game went on.

Great job by the D holding UNT to a FG after 2 personal foul calls, you guys NEED to learn discipline. With that said, not expecting another win this season but if we can improve for next season when coach has more of his guys I'm willing to sit through this miserable season, but if we're going to win 1 more game all season, let it be FIU!

+ 1! In due time! Gotta give the guy a chance. Where would FIU be if they had fired Cristobal after the mess he inherited from Don Strock? It takes time, he had a plan, stuck to it and now it's starting to pay off

I am kinda puzzled at the play calling tonite.  Ist down run 4 yards, 2nd down run 4 yards ,  and we're passing on 3rd down???  UNT proved they couldn't stop the run and we're throwing?  Especially with GW's decision making….
That said they did make it exciting with the comeback that just fell short….

Re: GAME DAY THREAD: North Texas @ FAU - 09/29/12 @ 5:00 PM

I want Pelini to succeed as much as anyone, as I have been with this team since slippery rock. However, there were about 10 other guys I would have rather been selected then Pelini. College teams rosters change significantly every year, it is  the nature of the game. Discipline and execution needs to be taught PRIOR to the season. That is a head coaches job. Are we going to be 5 games deep into the season every year hearing Pelini blab about this is a team whos discipline and execution needs improvement? That is a bunch of crap. We talk about marketing.. but maybe Angelos is also gone because of his choice of pelini as well, we do not know the full politics. Chun needs to create a plan and vision, and a coach who is teaching execution and discipline 5 games into the season does not need to be a part of it. The reality of survival as a head coach in college football is this… WIN games.. if pelini canoot muster up a few sunbelt victories… send him packing.
