I'm with SeminOWL, he's not hanging on to every glimpse of hope, because we really probably won't get a bowl bid, he is just giving the facts (X number of spots, Y number of teams, 0ne way or another, they have to fill all the spots), and he has been doing this the past few weeks.

But what it seems, is a lot of people don't care of the last game, and let's lay down and quit, because who cares.

But it is our Rivalry game, and we have to keep the Shula Trophy and kick the crap out FIU and finish 6-6.
Every other teams rivalry games are a VERY big deal to them, and it should be no different for us.

I think most Owls fan, OK all Owls fans want nothing more then to keep the Shula Trophy in Boca.

We hold the NCAA record for fastest team to go to and win a bowl.  FIU is one year younger, so this would be the year they can screw it up and scratch their name in next to us in the record books.  If we beat them they can never go down in history with us as the youngest startup program to go a bowl.  That is what the Owls should play for.  Defending our tradition, our record, our pride.

We are the NCAA record-breakers and we refuse to allow Amber Kitties to stand next to us.

In my opinion, anything less than that would not be tying FAU. REALLY, unless a team has a good win/loss record AND/OR wins their conference like FAU did last year, what does a team have to brag about if they go to a bowl. There is nothing to brag if bowls are inviting 6-6 teams.  Thats not even a winning record. I think FAU's record will be safe for while.

I'm not being an FAU apologist or some sort of dreamer.  I was just putting out there what has to happen, not just for FAU but also for FIU, MTSU, and ULL for the Sun Belt (not FAU necessarily) to get a 4th bowl slot.  I'm not a desperate FAU fan grasping at straws, just putting the info out there so that people know what the situation is.

Easy to get to a bowl game?  Tell Vanderbilt that, they are going to their first one in a quarter century this year.  While getting to one bowl game for most programs isn't all that much of a feat….its the consitancy of going year after year that makes it tough.  Remember when North Texas went 4 years in a row and haven't been back to a bowl in 4 years?  We need this win and a bowl game to show that the program is going to be consistantly good…that goes a long way with fundraising and recruiting.
