Game Week Thread: FAU @ USF - 10/02/10 @ 7:05 p.m.

I think we're gonna have to gamble and put 9 in the box and leave Hill and Polo on an island… BJ Daniel's legs will hurt us way more than his arm…

What's the story with FAU this year? I know you had Rusty 2 years ago(still think he'd be a great NFL qb) and IIRC your running back was pretty good too. Is the new QB close to the same talent level as Smith and just young or not so much?

The QB isn't the problem, I think he's as good as Rusty, a little less experience but he's good. He's more mobile, fairly smart (except for 1 INT I've seen this year) and has good arm strength. He put together a 3 play TD drive on Saturday that was surgical. We literally moved the ball 60 yards on 3 plays, bang bang bang.

The problem is the offensive line, they can't open holes for the running game so Alfred Morris is struggling (and he's a hell of a back) so we're going to the air a lot. That's football unfortunately.

Don't even ask about our defense.

Here is more evidence on why we need to put more pressure on their quarterback and why we need to seriously work on our tackling:
Calmed-Down Postgame Thoughts: USF vs. Western Kentucky - Voodoo Five

– "USF did not want to throw the ball. I get that your top three receivers are out and your offensive line is a strength. But seriously, when are you going to get a better chance to get your inexperienced receivers some action in a live game than against Western Kentucky? Do you want to try and break these guys in during conference play? What if Sterling Griffin and A.J. Love are out longer than you think they will be? I don't understand why you wouldn't throw the ball more than 11 times, and not throw any passes further than about 15 yards downfield.  Then again, the longest pass attempt of the game (a wheel route to Mo Plancher right before halftime) was one where B.J. Daniels stared him down the entire play, and then led him right to where the free safety was waiting for an interception."

yeah… that's pretty much spot on…

Breaking news… Sterling Griffin may play Saturday night… he's coming back off a knee injury… Bogan should be back too… hopefully that helps.
