This first game will be a great barometer against where we are in our development under Pelini, I wish it was against Wagner and not UM but we'll take what we can get.
Overall position strengths for us are LBs, Secondary and Receiving Corps. We have a lot of speed on the field ourselves, and I expect us to keep up in a track meet outside.
Look for LB Adarius Glanton, S Keith Reaser, S Crevon Leblanc, WR Willie Dukes, TW Nexon Dorvilus
At QB, no one knows what the hell is going on. Pelini is so secretive that the media gets 10 mins at the end of practice so theyre reporting what he wants them to report. MGIII was supposed to be our guy, hes apparantly a WR now, and Quez Johnson looks to be the starter. Both guys we juco transfers, both had very big numbers at that level, but MG was a 2 time ajcaa all american, so you can understand our shock when he was moved outside. My guess is that pelini wants them both on the field to add a few wrinkles. We have the fastest running back in college football in Martese Jackson, but he has hands like bricks, which is how we got him :D if he holds onto the ball, he's electric.
my biggest concern is your o line and Duke, if he has his way it'll open the field, fast.
We are going to be a better team than last year, and we hung with UGA for half last season, they were a play away from arguably winning the national title, so we are no slouch. This is our second year in the system and we have a qb who can actually run the offense vs last year. Owl fans are hoping for a shootout.

Wright has an undisclosed right knee injury that has kept him out for more than 10 days. LeBlanc has been wearing a green "limited contact" jersey after he sustained a hairline fracture to a rib early in preseason camp.
"Those are probably going to be game-time decisions," Rekstis said. "It wouldn't take much for them to play, I know that."

UM doesn't have a receiver than can run by Keith Reaser….He has legit 4.2 speed…..DJ Smith is also a 4.3 guy so FAU doesnt have to worry about UM speed at WR!! The DL will have to be able to shed blocks and contain UM's running game. If FAU can stop the run and force UM to pass, then the secondary (FAU strength)
will make it a game.Posted On: Aug 29th 2013, 1:17 PM #315936
You obviously have not seen our OL or Duke Johnson, and that speed will be tested against Stacey Coley and Phillip Dorsett

Yeah i saw that you had hired Bo pelinis brother to coach I'm interested in how he has y'all's defense playing. And how is Leblanc doing if I'm not mistaken didn't the herald (or someone like that) post an article how he was kinda in happy playing a nickle back position? I remember this kid as a kid of interest during his recruitment but never got his offer.
Mmmmm sounds like your offense is gonna be a fun one to watch against our d. How does y'all's line play? Cause a lot of talk between canes is seeing not only the overall d improve but our pass rush(sacks to be specific) improve as last years numbers weren't miami caliber numbers

Not to mention that the Friggin Palm Beach Post actually made an article about it….

FAU, FIU ‘same thing,’ Miami Hurricanes quarterback says
by Matt Porter
It’s just a fact of life and some South Florida football fans will never pay attention to Florida Atlantic and Florida International.
Ryan Williams is one of them. Miami’s junior backup quarterback on Sunday confused FAU, his team’s Week 1 opponent, with its conference rival and Shula Bowl opponent FIU.
Williams, who grew up in Pembroke Pines and attended Miramar High, was asked his thoughts on starting the season with a local team like FAU, from Boca Raton.
“It’s good,” Williams said. “We had that rivalry a couple years ago, that didn’t end very well in that game. I mean …”
FIU is the team Miami brawled against in 2006. The Hurricanes face FAU, not the Golden Panthers, in 12 days.
Correcting his gaffe as reporters chuckled, Williams may have given FAU, a 32-point underdog, some bulletin-board material when he added, “Same thing. Close enough.”
Hey, Owls: at least Williams didn’t confuse you with Savannah State, the only FCS team on UM’s schedule.
Williams said he does have respect for FAU, though. He played youth football with Howard Schnellenberger’s grandkids and said he knows the Suspendered One personally.
Guarantee Howard’ll set him straight next time they meet.
