UNT's nemesis' appears to be 3rd down conversion (33%) and pass completion (55%).

They don't have a problem on the defensive side of the ball (not good for us really), but they can't finish drives.

Of course against our D, that could be easier…….

Our D does have a habit of stopping drives short though. It's usually lucky, but it has happened.

Good point…….

Three FG's on drives for the #1 Team in the land instead of TD's last Saturday.

Take this for what it's worth, but someone told me that the reason the Owls lined up in the "Wildcat" so much against Alabama was to protect Wilbert and prevent him from getting injured. In theory it makes sense.

I know it wasn't me who told you that but I said that (somewhere on here) as well…no question about it. He's our only QB hope this year and had been sacked 2 or 3 times by the second half and you just can't risk it, not for this kind of game. It's also why we ran the ball so heavy.

Pelini didn't want to be there in the first place, he sure a hell didn't want to lose any of his starters in the process.

Doing a little homework tonight…Interesting tidbit to note:

North Texas and FAU rank seventh and eighth respectively in passing offense in the Sun Belt Conference.  The two teams are the only league teams that don’t average at least 200 yards passing per game, with North Texas averaging 183.0 and FAU averaging 160.0 yards per game

What is not called out in the above excerpt from UNT's Game Notes is the fact that FAU has a 64% to 55% completion advantage.

When the Owls do pass, they are more successful.

Healthy competition has been there for both teams to make this mark, with the Owls facing both Georgia and Alabama, and the Mean Green taking on the likes of LSU and Kansas State.

However, FAU is not as proficient when defending the pass, and despite being run heavy in play selection it will be interesting to see if UNT goes to the air more on Saturday to try and take advantage.

Good points. The 160 yards for FAU is also skewed because of the Alabama game in which FAU threw for 34 yards. Take away that game and FAU averages just over 200 yards passing per game.

Re: Game Week Thread: North Texas @ FAU - 09/29/12 @ 5:00 PM

I'm really hoping to see the offense "open up" in this game.  We saw nothing against Wagner, and just a few extra plays against MTSU.  I didn't get to see the UGA game or the ALA game, but I'm not even considering those.  While I hate to just ignore a conference loss, our season really starts this week, if we're going to be competitive in the belt it needs to start on Saturday and end Dec. 1.

If the D shows up and we can make FGs (not get them blocked) we clean up this year in the Sunbelt! Boom! Simple enough... somebody tell Coach P my plan! :)

Speakign of the kicking game...did anyone notice that Mitchell Anderson was the kid who kicked our XP after the TD last week? GREAT extra point! I hope we get to see him kicking FGs moving forward
