A different QB problem

Ooohhh man I'm liking this!!! Finally someone who hasn't already made a depth chart at qb of German (who want be here till fall if at all) and Flessner (who needs to call his buddy trey burton at UF to learn the H-back position) and Curtis (Who can learn from German from what i read in an earlier post……hahaha) and the rest can take a hike. I can't wait till spring practice, these coaches are going to play whoever gives them the best chance to win and they might have to do it by not running the the offense they have envisioned. this first year they will have to mold an offense to the players they feel can win and down the road with recruiting they mold an offense to whatever they want, but you don't do that the first year with 25 recruits. I know i caught flack about Flessner but i watched the videos, i watched him play, I saw him and kane toss it around at workouts but i didn't see a qb or one that could see over these huge linemen that is coming in. When it comes to the QB who can read a D pre-snap and make the adjustments, be smart with the ball and has maybe 90-95% of the team backing him to be the guy….. Have to go with Bracewell.

Re: A different QB problem

Let's see…. German has a cannon, is somewhat accurate, and did i mention he was a JUCO ALL AMERICAN TWICE????

If he makes it to campus, he is our starter.

I know you do not want to be let down if he does not show, but face it: Melvin German is our best option. PERIOD.

Re: A different QB problem

I'm no coach, but I'm pretty sure a whole new coaching staff does not come in and run the offense that is already in place, that was totally ineffective, just because that is the one the players that are there are familiar with. Nope, what is more likely is the new coaching staff comes in and runs the offense THEY think will win games and everyone–the players who are already there and the new players–will either get on board or get off.

Re: A different QB problem

CP basically want's to run the offense he least likes defending. He want's a spread that can threaten horizontally and more importantly vertically. The horizontal is the easy part. The vertical is the part that opens up the running game. So far I have seen little of the vertical threat from last year's QBs and tape on this year's incoming QBs. It's not about arm strength. It's about the rhythm pass  in the 5-step game(or 3 from gun) that the QB can anticipate and throw when that 5th step hits the ground. No hitch. You hitch, the window is closed. This makes a QB. Throwing guys open, not throwing when they're open. The guy that can do this will be the one we go to battle with.

Re: A different QB problem

Wilbert had arm strenght, he just saw the field 2 dimensionally.  He had zero depth control on his passes.  The only pass he threw with any accuracy was a comeback route.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

I just looked at his twitter page…. nothing about not qualifying. it sounds like he is working hard actually.

Also, Wilbert did not have the arm at all.

Re: A different QB problem

I still cannot get over the fact that he was a 2 time JUCO AllAmerican and led the nation in passing!
