It is difficult for me to type this due to the tears welling up in my eyes. Your situation certainly puts our daily struggles into proper perspective. Your spirit and brave fight are inspiring.
I am so sorry for the suffering and battle you have endured and my prayers are with you and your family in the days ahead. Please keep fighting and we'll be there with prayers and good thoughts on your behalf - here on earth and when (hopefully a long time from now) you are with God.
I hope to meet you some time soon.
Hang in there …

I hate to hear bad news like that, but keep a positive attitude. There's a line from one of my favorite movies, Ghost in the Darkness, "There's an expression in prize fighting, Everyone has a plan until they've been hit. Well my friend, you've just been hit. The getting up is up to you."
Keep up the fight and know that the owl nation is behind you. See you in the staduim next year and GO OWLS!

I am so sorry to hear the bad news. That is terrible and very sad. Just keep thinking positive. Miracles do happen! I really hope you can make it to the opening game at the stadium in late August. I'm at a loss for words right now after reading what you wrote. I wish there was something we could all do to help.
Maybe the Oncology department will get back to you with some good news. You are in our thoughts and prayers and keep your head up and as Jimmy V said "Don't give up, don't ever give up"!

If you need anything you be sure to let us know. I have never faced a situation or anything close to the one you are in. I am at a loss for words and sorry to hear the news.

Best of luck, don't let the labs get you down. As much as you can, stay positive. If you need any help looking up something medical, please let me know.

Re: A huge THANKS goes out to the NEST! Update on Cancer Situation!
Thanks for checking in on me about the latest. I just left the hospital a couple of days ago–spiked a temp after my last chemo. I am know waiting to get a bone marrow biopsy either on March 21st or March 28th; I have to wait for all of my numbers to come back. My WBC is at .05, my ANC is at .01 and my platelets are rebounding from 9k to 36k. Normal numbers are at WBC 4.0 and up, ANC 4.0 and up and platelets 150k to 450k is normal.
Once I get my bone marrow biopsy; we have made the decision to not continue into stem cell transplant if my blast are greater than 5%. Meaning that there are 5% or more cancerous cells in my marrow/blood. With my condition (MDS/AML), I need to be at 0% blasts before going into stem cell transplant (this was confirmed by one Doctor at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital and one Doctor at Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital). MD Anderson & Sloan Kettering are Top 5 Cancer Hospitals in the country for Bone Marrow. MD Anderson is number 1!
If my blasts are at 6% or higher, then this is the 4th chemo that I have failed! My decision is to take a drug (5 days per month) and live a healthy life up to 1 year. Of course I am praying for a miracle and hoping for 0% blasts so that I can push further. If I discontinue all therapy drugs, they give me 2 months of life. My family is very happy with 12 months vs. the alternatives. Anyway, sorry for TMI, however I feel very strongly about our stance and I have been fighting cancer since April 2011.
Thank you again for all of your support and I will update you again in the near future.
Chris
