About the Memphis Tigers

We've won 5 of our last 6 games after starting off the season 2 - 4.  We had a player murdered this year, right before the MTSU game, not an excuse just a fact.  We had to play 3 games in 11 days and lost two of them.  Our starting qb missed all of the MTSU game and 1/2 or the Arky State game, as well as the Marshall game that we won.

We've had trouble with the running game this year both on offense and defense.  The passing game is pretty good our qb (Martin Hankins) is the cerebral type and won't beat you with his legs.  His arm isn't NFL caliber either, but he gets it done.  We have 6 big physical receivers, most are around 6'3', Carlos Singleton is 6' 9" and is quite a weapon especially on fade routes at the goal line.  He has the speed to run away from people as well.  Duke Calhoun is our go to receiver and is a tough kid that can break any catch for a score.

We run a lot of (some will say too many) screens.  These plays tend to take the place of some of our running game.  If we win it will be because our passing game was able to move the ball and score on some big strikes.  Our defense has played better during the second half of the season, but is still a source of concern.  We have not been very good on special teams.

Re: About the Memphis Tigers

Thanks for the update, I am excited to say Memphis will be the team that I can forever remember winning our first bowl game against...hey at least you will make some sort of history this season.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
