It doesn't matter if we "deserve" a bowl or not.  Three more weeks to practice plus the right to tell recruits we won the Sunbelt and the New Orleans Bowl last year faster than any other team, this year we are going to the Hawaii Bowl and we just started building our on campus stadium, that's what's important.

Whether FAU deserves to go to a bowl or not, if they get the invite, I'm sure they're going.

Extra practice would be quite helpful.  Teams that get the additional 3-4 weeks a year of practice every season for going to any bowl game are a cohesive unit.  Having the additional tie-ins and the additional opportunities to play in the post season will help FAU and the Sun Belt greatly.

More of our teams playing better and getting recognized is a GOOD thing!

IF we go to a bowl game this year and IF we get shovels in the ground this February… our Fall 2010 freshmen class should be our best recruiting class ever.

As much as I would like to see us in another bowl game, I gotta agree with the naysayers here.  Personally, I don't think we deserve one, but of course that is not my call to make.  I am still finding it hard to believe that we would get an invite to "someone else's " bowl game, but maybe I'm wrong.  My main concern with this is if we get invited to a bowl, we will be severly mismatched, and when that is combined with a poor showing by fans (especially if it's in Hawaii  :o), I think it would be pretty embarassing.

But then again, we would know we are the underdogs, we play best when we are underdogs, and if we happen to pull the game out, it would supercharge our program, so disregard the above paragraph and GO OWLS!  ;D

We wont get embarassed by Hawaii.

The argument about 6-6 treams being deserving is moot, it is what makes you bowl eligible. The Owls are only one of two 6-6 teams to at least have a winning conference record. There area lot of big name 6-6 teams going to bowls and if it was not for their being able to "pick-on" smaller OOC teams, they would be going nowhere!

If we went bowling this year sitting at 6-6 - I would be ecstatic.  And wouldn't it say something about our program & what we have been able to establish in such a short period of time.  This would add to the name "FAU" & what it represents.

We all know that BCS teams ride on their past performances (history - especially on down years) & this would say a lot on what Howard & the "Original Owls" accomplish getting the program started and to where it is now.

And could very well be a first for the Belt conference to have three and/or plus teams going bowling in the same year.
